Job Description : Retro Biosciences is a fast-growing biopharma startup using high-throughput, high-dimensional approaches to develop therapies for diseases driven by the biology of aging. We are looking to expand our exceptional team at our Redwood City location.We are looking for a qualified, highly organized, and self-motivated Staff / Senior Accountant who craves a challenge, feels energized to roll up their sleeves, and who feels comfortable owning Retro finances. You will keep our company numbers and budgets on track with unwavering accuracy and will need to apply your discretion, and good judgment as you work across various teams and competing priorities. Retro will provide access to high-level finance consultants to help you expand your capabilities. Because we are a growing startup, you will be expected to grow out of this role over time and train others in your job responsibilities. You will report to the VP of Operations and will work frequently with the CEO.Primary responsibilities: Create and review expense reports in ExpensifyManage the vendor setup, major purchasing, and A/P processesPrepare G/L account reconciliations and journal entriesPerform monthly bank reconciliationsPrepare quarterly Financial StatementsEnsure timely execution and filing of appropriate tax documents (with the exception of the Corporate Income Tax for which you will work with our outside firm)Assist in managing payrollFacilitate annual budgeting and forecasting with the executive teamQualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related fieldAt least 3-5 years of related Accounting experienceExcellent analytical skills with the ability to independently and efficiently solve problemsQuickbooks Online experience preferredProficiency with Google Workspace, Asana, and Slack preferredFamiliarity of GAAP a strong plusYou may be a good match for this role if: You enjoy supporting and empowering othersYou can balance multiple competing prioritiesYou embrace the process of adapting to new and changing situationsYou are happy to jump in and help with any task that comes your wayDetail-oriented, organized, and technically competentEnthusiastic about rapidly and creatively experimenting, learning, and improvingExcellent at explaining technical concepts clearlyWarm interpersonal skills and open communication styleAbout Retro: Our leadership team is a group of mission-driven, kind, and thoughtful individuals.
