Your Opportunity:
GTP Consulting team provides the best means to take advantage of the cloud by providing outstanding tools, services, assistance, and knowledge, so every customer realizes their goals and desired value. GTP Consulting team’s mission is to build specialty skills, intellectual capital, methodologies, and associates dedicated to providing the resources needed to ensure Walmart application teams successfully move and operate in the cloud.
As part of GTP Consulting team, you are expected to work closely with the application development teams in Walmart and assist them in designing and building robust cloud-native solutions that support the business goals. The cloud consultant will act in a pre-project role and is chartered to develop a comprehensive cloud-native solution in support of the application development team’s needs and vision.
Your Responsibilities:
Provide consultation for implementing solutions that solve business problems
Advise and assist customers with objective and specialized technical expertise
Connect customers with technical partners
Augment customer engineering through direct participation in critical priorities
Deploy immediate engineering assistance for critical challenges
Evaluate (Dog Food) GTP tools prior to customer delivery and represent customer interests
Pre-project assessment and qualification activities for rolling out cloud-native solutions
Present to customers on technical topics and advice on the use of existing blueprints
Contribute to intellectual capital through technical best practices development, knowledge base article creation, and codeshare repositories.
You will be working as a technical evangelist and a design/architecture consultant. Hands-on involvement is expected when it comes to implementing the ideas.
Qualification
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
12+ years of experience, including exposure to enterprise application architecture, design, and implementation experience
Good communication skills with the ability to understand a business problem and provide a suitable technical solution to the problem
Ability to collect requirements, list out action items and drive the engagements effectively
Industry experience in cloud technologies and stacks (IaaS/PaaS) – Azure/GCP, load balancing, developing for HA/DR, etc.
Hands-on experience with Java 8+, J2EE
Good understanding of object-oriented programming, distributed application development, service discovery, application design concepts & design patterns.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes production-grade implementation
Understanding of frameworks surrounding application development like load balancing, telemetry, APM tools, database, caching, logging, and other cross-cutting concerns.
Nice to have
Experience with Java streaming APIs, collections, concurrent constructs, spring boot, TomEE application server, Redis/Memcached caching, authentication & authorization (Oauth2).
Exposure to Envoy/Linkerd/Istio (sidecar technology)
Experience deploying/migrating applications to the container environment
