Job Description : JOB SUMMARY: The Student Accountant will assist the Accounts Payable department with data entry, processing of purchase orders, entering vendor invoices, and reconciling payable accounts. The Student Accountant is an entry level position and may also provide support in other areas in the accounting department.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist with the data entry of accounts payable invoices.Assist with reconciling vendor statements.Assist accounting with special projects.Assist with filing for accounts payable.Assist with reconciling credit card transactions.Assist with general office duties including making copies, scanning documents, faxing, and mailing.Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.Perform other duties as directed.SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.Bacic knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and terminology.Ability to perform basic math: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and find percentages.Ability to take on-going educational courses to stay technically current.Ability to work independently and work cooperatively with others.Ability to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a friendly and positive manner.Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information.Ability to use judgment and discretion.Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.Ability to use a computer and knowledge of standard and specific business applications, such as computerized accounting, e-mail, electronic spreadsheet development, database, and word processing; ability to learn new software applications.Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent.Currently enrolled in Accounting/Finance degree program required.Ability to pass a drug and background screening.WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
