Job Description : The Job
The County is recruiting for Supervising Accountants II who are responsible for supervising professional, technical, and clerical staff engaged in accounting and fiscal duties; analyzing and preparing a variety of accounting narrative statements; monitoring present or pending legislation for potential fiscal impact; and reviewing unit operations for efficiency and conformance to legal, procedural, and accounting standards.

Certified Public Accountant Stipend – $750 annual CPA stipend for employees who attain and maintain a valid CPA License.

Minimum Requirements
Experience: Two (2) years of professional-level accounting or auditing experience, of which one (1) year must be equivalent to an Accountant III or Internal Auditor III with the County of San Bernardino.

AND

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting OR Bachelor’s degree in another field that includes 30 semester (45 quarter) units in accounting or business related coursework (e.g., finance, computer science, organizational management, public or business administration). Half of the units MUST be upper division. A list of completed college coursework must be submitted with the application if the applicant does not have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an active CPA license.

Substitution: An active California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license may substitute for the education requirements. List your license number under the license/certification section of the application.

Note: Qualifying degree or coursework must have been completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, lead experience over professional-level accounting staff, an active CPA license, and extensive governmental accounting experience.
Selection Process
Examination: There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. It is to your advantage to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible, as resumes will not be reviewed in lieu of the application materials.

The most highly qualified candidates, based on the results of the evaluation, may be referred to a selection interview.
