Job Description : The Tax Manager reports to the Tax Director and provides functional guidance to six professional level staff members, 2 to 3 of which are direct reports.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
Review of federal tax returns in an accurate and timely manner, including reporting on foreign subsidiaries. 25%
Review of assigned state income, franchise, and local income tax liabilities and required forms. This will include quarterly estimate, extension and tax return requirements. 20%
Review of sales and use tax monthly, quarterly, and annual filings. 15%
Review / Preparation of corporate reporting to complete the monthly, quarterly, and year-end Income Tax Accounting, in accordance with group policies. 10%
Manage various state audits, including responding to governmental tax audit questions in a professional, accurate and timely manner. Reviews federal and state audit responses and seeks additional review where appropriate. 10%
Preparation of limited complex direct and indirect US tax calculations and reporting. 5%
Manage tax depreciation treatment of fixed assets and / or property tax filings prepared by outside consultant. 5%
Talent management and development of direct reports, including hiring, training plans, goal setting and performance management. Partner with Tax Director in setting tax team strategy and goals and aligning / driving direct reports and own team to meet these goals. 5%
Partner with Tax Director or other business partners in projects as needed, including various business transactions and due diligence. 5%
CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENT
Minimal travel associated with this role.
Required to stay current with the Federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Significant internal communication of varying levels with Subsidiary/Internal Accountants, Finance Managers, global business partners, and other tax department members.
Requires work time beyond normal work hours to meet tax deadlines or other project driven deadlines.
Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field required
Master’s degree in tax, or other related discipline, and/or CPA a plus
A minimum of 8 years of tax experience across all disciplines of tax, including US and state direct and indirect tax and Accounting for Income Taxes
Operates as a subject matter expert in at least two areas of tax
3 plus years managing, training and developing a team
Current with US and state tax law requirements and resources
Experience with and knowledge of foreign tax policy and transfer pricing matters is preferred
Moderate experience with SAP and OneSource applications
Advanced Excel skills
