Job Description : How Will Your Role Impact First Command?

The Treasury Accountant is part of the Treasury team and helps to support the cash, investment, and deferred compensation plans at First Command. This role supports the day-to-day treasury operations by aiding in the management of bank accounts, maintaining financial records, and supporting internal, regulatory, and external audits. The Treasury Accountant reports to the Assistant Corporate Treasurer and should demonstrate accountancy principles knowledge, proactivity, multitasking, organizational skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving orientation.

What Will You Be Doing?
Supports the day-to-day treasury operations including processing ACH/Wire requests as needed and providing cash management reports to various teams within the Finance organization.
Recommends and implements cost saving, profit maximizing, risk management, and process improvement opportunities to current treasury systems and processes.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and provide technical guidance to help manage cash.
Prepares standard and ad-hoc journal entries as required for monthly closing related to cash, investments, debt, and compensation programs.
Reconciles balance sheet accounts in accordance with FC standards.
Supports quarterly and year-end financial reporting, including financial disclosures and footnotes.
Assists in the monthly financial statement review of the consolidated entity.
Works directly with external and internal auditors, preparing audit work papers and schedules as required.
Support administration of deferred compensation plans
Performs variance and forecasting analysis of key financial data related to the treasury function
Collects, consolidates, and inputs information into cash forecast
Work cross-functionally with Financial Planning & Analytics, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Accounting groups.
Assists in coordinating, preparing, and reviewing all required periodic state and annual state tax returns.
Work on special projects as assigned

What Skills/Qualifications Do You Need?

Education/Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or CFA preferred

Required Qualifications

1-2 Years’ Experience in a of Treasury, Accounting, or Finance role.
Requires the highest level of integrity and ethics.
Familiar with standard accounting (GAAP) concepts, practices, and procedures.
Must display sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Good at working independently, thinking critically and suggesting quality ideas for process improvements.
Possesses initiative, critical thinking, problem analysis, and problem resolution skills and a high degree of professionalism.
Requires strong business acumen and maturity. Must be detailed and deadline oriented but also be able to think strategically at the functional level.
Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate complex issues, procedures, and rules to various levels of management.
Requires the ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Must be able to take projects and manage to completion.
