Job Description
OVERVIEW
The Carrier North America Operations Accounting Team has a unique Warranty Accountant role for an analytical and motivated person who has a passion for process improvement and is experienced with IT projects/databases. In addition to system & data improvements, this position performs monthly JE’s/account reconciliations, analyzes warranty reserve models, & publishes monthly warranty reports to BU’s. Position works with a cross-functional team of BU Controllers, FP&A, Warranty Admin, Quality/Engineering, & multiple IT departments. The Warranty Accountant will report directly to the Warranty Accounting Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ownership of various warranty systems, including balancing and error resolution
Manage weekly warranty claim system feeds (Service Bench to SAP ECC6 & SAP HANA)
Seek root cause of system feed/reconciling issues and project manage resolution
Analyze warranty claiming trends by product line and part utilizing Power BI & various databases
Maintain & process improve Access/Excel Optional Warranty Databases
Analyze optional warranty claiming patterns to determine correct revenue recognition
Assist in analyzing standard and extended warranty reserve models
Prepare month-end closing JE’s, account reconciliations, & flux analysis
Collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Finance, & Controllers
Review and update Sarbanes Oxley documentation
Adhoc analysis
TYPICAL EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 3+ years of relevant finance/accounting experience
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in handling and analyzing large amounts of data and drawing meaningful conclusions
Experienced contributor on IT projects
Comfortable holding meetings and driving issues to resolution
Experience with Microsoft Access; ability to understand and change macros, queries, & tables
Strong understanding of US GAAP
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Knowledge of SAP & Excel
SAP experience a plus
