The purpose of the LCCI Business Insights & Analytics team is to partner with Business Insights & Analytics in providing high quality analytical support to Brand, Market Research and other internal partners through right data, smart analytics and actionable insights across different geographies.
The Northern European HUB is a key geographical location within the Lilly International Business Unit (IBU) and is made up of 6 countries: UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. The Data Engineer role spans across all countries and functions within the HUB to enable a data driven business.
Responsibilities:
Data engineers are responsible for ensuring the availability and quality of data needed for analysis and business transactions. This includes data integration, acquisition, cleansing, harmonization and transforming raw data into curated datasets for data science, data discovery, and BI/analytics. Responsible for developing, constructing, testing and maintaining data sets and scalable data processing systems.
Data engineers work closely with IBU Data Engineers, Data Architects and Data Scientists. They also work with business and IT groups beyond the data sphere, understanding the enterprise infrastructure and the many source systems. Input is raw datasets. Output is analytics-ready, integrated/curated datasets.
Key capabilities in this role include:
Data Acquisition – is the process of gathering and storing data in a location and format that it can be consumed for data preparation and/or downstream business uses.
Data Preparation – is an iterative process for exploring, integrating, cleaning, validating and transforming raw data into curated datasets
Data Publishing – is the act of releasing data in consumable form for (re)use by others.
Data engineers are responsible for ensuring the availability and quality of data needed for analysis and business transactions. This includes data integration, acquisition, cleansing, harmonization and transforming raw data into curated datasets for data science, data discovery, and BI/analytics. Responsible for developing, constructing, testing and maintaining data sets and scalable data processing systems.
Note: All data engineer roles should have a foundational set of knowledge in: communication, leadership, teamwork, problem solving skills, solution / blueprint definition, business acumen, architectural processes (e.g. blueprinting, reference architecture, governance, etc.), technical standards, project delivery, and industry knowledge.
Required Experience:
3-6 years of IT experience
2-5 years of experience in any of the core tools used by insights team (e.g. SQL , AWS Glue, Python, Redshift, RDS, Lamda, Stepfunctions, Athena,Github etc.)
Good to have experience on Knime, Tableau, Informatica (PowerCenter)
Experience with Data Preparation / data wrangling (e.g. Knime )
Experience with AWS cloud and ETL/File Movement tools
Working with multiple internal IT organizations or external suppliers, virtually and across different geographies
Experience in working in Scrum – agile methodologies, coding standards, programming, code reviews, source management (GITHUB), build processes and Jira.
Experience with Incident and Problem management processes, tools and techniques
Application of corporate policies and procedures.
Good learning ability regarding technologies and business processes.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills, collaboration, and teamwork.
Strong communication written and verbal.
Self-motivated to prioritise and complete multiple tasks without direct supervision.
Ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances, priorities
Essential Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems or equivalent.
Ability to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Effective analytical, problem solving and investigative skills.
Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues.
Ability to resolve issues across geographical and cultural boundaries.
In depth knowledge of one or more Lilly application areas and/or business areas is desirable.
Evidence of creativity, pro activity and influencing skills
English, fluent – oral & written communication. An additional language is an advantage
