Our Team & Position Summary
International Technology: Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,900 retail units, operating outside the United States with 55 banners in 26 countries such as Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, Mexico and United Kingdom to name a few.
This role is expected to lead Engineering for the Item, Catalog, Supplier teams for Walmart International. Teams are geographically distributed across Bangalore, Bentonville and Sunnyvale. It presents an exciting challenge of managing global teams as well as focusing on building a multi-market omni channel Item and Catalog system that can be leveraged across Walmart International. An ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience as an Engineering Director, have worked with distributed teams, be a strong technologist and a proponent of the ‘how’ with the ‘what’. This role will also manage both the eCommerce and stores based technology teams for Item, Catalog and Supplier.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire high-performing engineering teams in eComm space to build and scale highly reliable, secure, and performant platform / products and frameworks.
Own the technical design, realization and Devops for a complex micro services ecosystem for a large-scale ecommerce.
Drive a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on engineering excellence, execution and propagate build for scale mindset.
Develop trusted partnerships with developers, partners, and architecture leaders to drive optimized platform / product delivery.
Lead complex technical and strategic discussions that involve multiple personas including engineering, architect, product, customer, and other stakeholders.
Drive development and designs/solutions involving the integration of varied technologies and products to meet business objectives.
Bring a strong industry perspective that can help shape and evolve the internal developer experience to be as good or better than other leading technology organizations.
Drive effective, mature Agile practices and continuous execution improvements within your teams.
Recruit, coach, and mentor the best engineering and management talent
Build, coach, and manage a strong team of engineers that set the standard and can up-level the overall talent of the extended organization.
Leverage technology from Global solutions existing in Walmart ecosystem to build / leverage scalable and innovative solutions.
Manage budget planning, spend and tracking for your area of responsibility.
Lead the large transformational programs.
Drive CXO level stakeholder’s discussion to take information based timely decisions impacting product roadmap.
High sense of urgency to solve problems and in executing them with extreme ownership.
Attitude to enjoy in a fun, fast-paced environment.
Position Requirements:
Minimum qualifications:
17+ years of experience of engineering experience with a focus on large scale product development in open stack and microservices delivery environment
An ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience as an Engineering Director, have worked with distributed teams, be a strong technologist
Experience in ecommerce domain will be a positive
Built and managed a complex microservices based platform or product.
Strong technical background with the capability of being hands-on as required
Ability to set and drive technical vision and provide technical mentorship to all levels of engineering talent.
Experience of working with globally distributed team
Excellent interpersonal skills, good with people, ability to negotiate.
Experience with hiring and building teams from ground up
Keen eye for new technology trends and how they can be used to help grow the business
Experience building products that are powered by massive data and can scale to lots of users
Additional Qualifications:

Good academic record and graduated (B.E/ B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech/ MBA)
Extremely strong technical background with the capability of having design conversations with the engineering team if required and earn the respect and ability to mentor top individual technical talent.
Have good experience in performance instrumentation, tuning, and optimization of large-scale products
Have good knowledge in design patterns while building cloud-native products
Experience in the eCommerce domain will be a huge positive
