Job Description : The Senior Manager Digital Communications plays a critical role in Teach For India’s branding and advocacy efforts, thereby, impacting the overall visibility of our work and our collective impact in a big way. They will support the Marketing and Communications Director by sourcing, creating and disseminating impactful stories to 3 important stakeholders: prospective Teach For India Fellows, our Alumni community and our Donors. This is an exciting role for someone who enjoys both content generation as well as the amplification of that content to a wider audience – a storyteller who can combine visuals, designs and writing in a powerful way, while also building and nurturing relationships both with an internal and external network. Together, with our PR Agency and a National and Regional team, they will help us narrate the impact of Teach For India online. Occasional support with digital events will be required.

Senior Manager Digital Communications will report directly to the Director, National Marketing and Communications and will be responsible for a portfolio of key platforms and stakeholders, contributing to significant brand awareness for the organization. Their goals will be to curate and publish innovative formats of content that builds effective partnerships and advocacy. They will also build a world-class team, and strengthen operations to scale. Specific responsibilities include:
Strengthen the National and Regional Digital Communications
Set strategic goals to increase brand visibility on social media, both nationally and regionally
This responsibility will include, but will not be limited to – creating and curating innovative content from Fellows, Students, Alumni and Donors, building a video-first platform, planning and driving campaigns that increase brand awareness for goals listed below
Analytics Reporting and goal setting for each stakeholder and platform
Co-brand campaigns with external partners
Build a roster of influencers, celebrities, creatives to advocate for the brand
Build a high-performing, motivated team
Develop and oversee the team (engagement) vision, goals, strategy, and annual operations plan
Team Management: Hire, train, lead and grow a team of 4-5 full-time individuals based in Mumbai. Execute a best-in-class learning loop by sharing best practices, synthesizing learnings from the platform and stakeholder portfolio, and provide regional support
Sustain a culture of trust, learning, collaboration, and support through periodic conversations, LDJCs, reflections, and check-ins, weekly trackers and team meetings.
Generate innovative content for new platforms
Find digital real estate on a variety of new platforms, including but not limited to Podcasts, Quora, Wikipedia.
Producing and publishing PR and video content
Ensure the brand website is up-to-date
Content and Design, Regular Updates, Maintenance
Analytics and SEO to drive traffic to the website
Build strategic and effective online partnerships
Develop campaigns and strategies to amplify our Recruitment and Matriculation efforts
Fundraise online by building effective partnerships and online campaigns
Serve as the primary relationship manager for long-term and high-potential partners
Adherence to MOU commitments, governance structures and policies like Child Protection Policy, field-trip policies, and educate all stakeholders for compliance
Acting both as an advisor and an auditor to ensure quality control in all campaigns and processes – impact reporting, audits, finance, knowledge management, and due diligence
Build partnerships to maximize Teach For India’s external positioning in service of Students, to raise capital online and engage donors
Alumni impact amplification
A strategic approach to Alumni spotlights, engagements, amplifications
Plan and deliver high-quality events content and coverage
Plan and execute Design, Social Media and PR campaigns for Alumni Inductions, InspirED Institute Events, and Special TFI Events
Manage the CEOs and Marketing Directors social media presence
Ensure content is curated and published on the CEOs social media, to further the goals of the organization’s Vision and Mission.
Find opportunities to promote the Marketing and Communications Directors voice in Alumni organisations, so that we can share resources, knowledge and drive advocacy
Work closely with the Director in these areas –
Goal-setting & strategic planning, reviewing progress to goals and ideate on strategy review and revision, and execute the same
Supporting Vertical Heads with online and PR engagement. Leveraging the leadership team to cultivate advocacy for the brand
Deliver insightful reporting to Senior Leadership
Any flagship projects (e.g. relief, blended learning fundraisers, online campaigns like #WhatIf #DontStopLearning)
Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations
Graduate/Postgraduate in any field
5-6+ years of relevant work experience in digital marketing and PR roles
Excellent communication – written and verbal. Ability to develop content consistent with the Teach For India brand voice, style, and tone
Strong in the people quadrant with highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills. Has the presence and personal style to represent the organization to multiple audiences
Maintain the team culture of openness and collaboration. Inspire and motivate the team as a strong team leader
Entrepreneurial attitude- can work independently, with an ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills, project management and reporting and analytics skills with a focus on excellence and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations
Previous experience working in the development/education sector.
Experience with having worked with CXOs/Senior Management stakeholders
Experience in managing people
