Role Description
Role Description: Database Admin – Oracle/SQL

The ideal candidate will Administer and troubleshoot complex Oracle database systems. Oracle Database Administration support for production systems and provide DBA services to application development teams, including database design, database generation, coding, and database production support. Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems of moderate nature to ensure user productivity.

Role and responsibilities

Design, develop, implement and maintain our core Oracle applications.

Maintain our SQL / PLSQ.

Ensure DB availability.

Set and maintain database standards.

Manage database access.

Performance tuning of database systems.

Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.

Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.

Responsible for design, develop, test, implement and maintain new and existing databases.

Create management methods and systems to access efficiently to information stored in databases

Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements.

Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables.

Develop procedures and scripts for data migration

Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements

Technical skills requirements

The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in,

2 to 6 years of professional experience administering Oracle Databases

Experience using Oracle Data Guard / Fast Start Failover

Knowledge or experience with Oracle Multitenant (CDB/PDB)

Knowledge or experience with Oracle GoldenGate

Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations.

Performance, security, and availability of databases.

Preparing documentations and specifications.

Handling common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.

Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary

Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Manage MySQL storage structure.

Linux / WIndows system administration fundamentals.

Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM

Experience with Encryption/decryption in My SQL

Good understanding on DB Replication, archival, back up/restore / DB admin/ logging in MySQL

Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL

Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.

Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases

Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as {Git / SVN}

Nice-to-have skills

Oracle Certified DB Professional (OCP) with more than 5 years’ experience with Oracle, preferably in a lead role.

Ability to learn Azure Cosmos DB.

Knowledge and experience of various Database HA Architectures.

Experience in scaling and managing Managed Services engagements.

Strong stakeholder management – external and internal including Exec levels.

Take part in design / architecture in MSBI platform.

Drive technical improvements.

Experience on Azure/AWS, Informatica, Oracle will be an added advantage.

Qualifications

4-8+ years of work experience in systems or application development.

B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech or MCA degree from a reputed university. Computer science background is preferred.
