What is the Software Engineer group team responsible for?
The FTI Software Engineer works on new technology solutions across a set of applications to improve business efficiency and productivity by acting as the main liaison to the business community. Continuously works on supporting business (Trading) applications and understands in providing support on timely manner. They work on medium to highly complex projects that involve medium to high levels of risk to the firm. Projects are generally large and cross-functional, spanning multiple BUs. They work to some extent with the IT Manager and the project manager running a medium to large project.
Supporting different applications of Investment Management Front Office and understand the criticality of keeping the infrastructure running as intended. The candidate should have strong Investment data experience and worked extensively with data domains of Front office and middle office.
What is the Software Engineer responsible for?
(50%): Supports Front Office Trading applications and works on technical solutions for business requirements to maximize efficiencies by leveraging the technology strategies to facilitate the system solution for requirements; plans and executes the gathering and documentation of technical requirements; consults with stakeholders to streamline complex work processes; designs interfaces, features, and new technologies; analyzes, designs, integrates, and implements solutions across multiple business functions, applications and domains; provides moderate complexity of alternative technical solutions to a business need; maintains the infrastructure as intended that having all servers up and running with no vulnerabilities (Required)
(25%): Performs analysis to understand and communicate production problem patterns and suggests continuous improvements; provides technical support and service by researching, responding to, and resolving users’ technical and data issues; works with various technology teams to proactively address technical issues; facilitates cross-functional group collaboration to resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner; identifies modules across multiple applications that could be impacted in response to an existing issue or a new requirement; creates reports on application related information such as performance, availability, and incident resolution and helps analyze trends (Required)
(15%): Collaborates with project teams to identify requirements; identifies Subject Matter Expert resources required for the project to ensure proper skills are aligned with required technical/system tasks; facilitates discussions with project stakeholders and team members to identify functional and non-functional requirements; gathers information necessary to interpret financial tools and reports (e.g., profit and loss, CBA) and provides it to the project team; develops innovative solutions to moderately complex cross-functional problems, taking into consideration day-to-day operating issues; elicits and documents technical requirements for Requests For Information (RFI) and Requests For Proposal (RFP) initiatives (Required)
(10%): Facilitates implementation of changes to existing applications; documents configuration and participates in code reviews and walkthroughs; reviews system test plans, test cases and scripts for a medium-large sized systems; and resolves defects opened as part of system testing and helps with triage and clarification of issues uncovered in user acceptance testing for the application development team; identifies industry related opportunities to improve existing systems or applications (Required)
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
3-6 years of experience working in Investment Management industry especially on supporting Trading Applications
Working knowledge on Linux, .Net Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
Experience in working on supporting/upgrading trading applications on AZURE
Ability to understand complex interrelated systems and processing
Knowledge on Java and/or Python.
Understanding of Batch Scripts, PERL will be advantage.
Experience with code versioning tools like SVN, BitBucket and other project related tools like Bamboo, Splunk will be added advantage.
A good understanding of Agile (Scrum, DAD, and the like) and CMM Waterfall methodologies
Ability to adapt quickly and easily to changes within the business
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently or in a team environment on larger projects
Excellent organization, planning and time management skills
Job Level – Individual Contributor
Shift Work Timings – 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM IST
