Job Description : Manager QC – India

POSITION PURPOSE:
Manages the functions of Quality Control Lab as a team leader dealing with Germination, Physical Purity, Seed Health and Genetic Purity tests.
Manages the changes in Lab processes/organization and play a key role to initiate, maintain and improve quality management systems in lab.
As a people manager, plans the knowledge and skill developments of team members Owns implementation of molecular, GTD & other I&D projects in labs Accountable for implementing global SQT & regional quality strategies Since last 15 years Manager QC in BBPL and legacy Monsanto .
Currently this role is responsible for integrated crops Rice, Corn & Vegetable testing, which doubles the responsibility both in terms of testing numbers and accountability for timely release.
Execution of high capex project is the added responsibility to this role (2m euro project in progress)
India tests >60% of APAC volume in terms of # tests as well as volumes for timely release as per supply budget both to India market and few other APAC countries.
Operating cost of this role is ~2m euro and responsible to manage 18FTEs and same # of NFTEs. To ensure people development (big team), implement advanced technologies and to drive QT strategies, a senior employee with high leadership skills and business insight is must.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review Physiology lab activities namely Standard Germination, Soil Germination, Useable Transplant, Field emergence, Vigor tests like Soil Cold Test & RET, Cool germination tests, SSAA tests and Others like Physical appearance, Physical Purity, Moisture, TZ etc.
Review Seed Health Lab activities namely ELISA, Bioassays, Seed Wash, Pathogenicity, Mycological assays and Molecular tests like PCR Review Genetic Purity Tests like Isozyme, SNP and DNA extractions and also trait purity by ELISA Support and Review Global, Regional and Local ring tests like Seed Check, Attribute analysis (Blind test), Gage R&R, ISTA proficiency and such other lab validation tests. Arrange / Compile Technical information like test protocols, procedures, manpower, competencies etc .
Non-Technical data like assets, records etc. during Lab audits.
Plan and Execute departmental budgets of Opex and Capex. Support inventory managers to analyze batch quality like blending decisions, obsolescence/ dispositions, dormancy checks etc.
Review Clearance for Packing Row crops & vegetables Support for plant quality audits and improvements in plant operations. Support complaint management Root Cause Analysis tests of seed quality complaints Demonstrate leadership in QMS, ESH, OSHAS, EMS and ETS and their implementation in Lab. Arrange technical trainings to QA and other functions Guide the team during problem solving processes.
Implement corrective and preventive actions for the quality problems if any. Guide and review onePSS implementation in QT. Support testing of Market Quality, Customer complaints, Seed technology, Parent seed and SPR etc. Plan and execute People development program. Support implementation of onePSS in seed testing & process improvement Support implementation of innovation & digitization projects in SQT

WHO YOU ARE:
Masters’ degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Supply Chain, or related field Minimum
10 years experience in QA Lab Management including minimum
2 years of People Managerial experience. Operating and Capital expenditures of Lab Inventory evaluations for usage / junk decision. People development.
