We are looking for a dedicated and experienced systems engineer to work within our Development Tools function. The intent of this function is to deliver central development tools and services to our developers that they can rely on.. The ideal candidate will have experience in both engineering systems to provide a hosted service capability and supporting our users from Level 3 perspective. Understanding of the Development tools will be the key.
What will you be doing?
The Engineering L3 Support will perform a critical role in Development tools with responsibility to ensure stability, continuity and availability of the service, in addition to providing rapid response to incidents and escalated user queries.
Responsible for developing automation scripts, regular updates, monitoring, and alerts
Design and engineer services that are key dependencies of the development process.
Ensure solutions meet requirements from a number of sources covering functional, security, and operational needs.
Deliver solutions as code. Fully automated delivery using Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps techniques.
Employ development best practices in the delivery of services.
Suggesting new ways forward and coming up with new ideas for how to achieve our aims
What we’re looking for:
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience in DevOps tools including but not limited to
Sonatype Nexus
SonarSource SonarQube
Chef
Jenkins
TeamCity
JIRA/Confluence
Git/BitBucket
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience developing Chef recipes.
Extensive Application/Service Support Experience.
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience with Continuous Integration concepts and systems such as Jenkins. Including creating build pipelines.
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience with Linux operating systems and automation through scripting.
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience with Windows operating systems and automation through scripting.
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience with AWS for application hosting.
Extensive multi-year hands-on experience with SQL databases ideally MS SQL and Postgres

Skills that will help you in the role:
Experience with Docker based application hosting.
Experience with Groovy, Python, Bash
Understanding of development dependency management tooling such as Maven, NPM, Nuget.
Good written and verbal skills.
Self awareness and desire to improve your skills
Knowledge of IT operations best practices
Good Knowledge on Release, Deployment and Change management process (ITIL).
