Scope of Role
Demonstrates proactive engagement with stakeholders. Keen to understand business processes in order to understand the reasons behind performing analytical tasks
Accounting for expenses and posting and reviewing of journals / accruals
Forecast / Budget and Expense Reporting
Provide support and communications through effective reports, active participations in calls, sharing analysis
Maintenance of data inputs and related key systems
Ad hoc requests for data and analysis
Overall Job Purpose
To deliver the requisite expense output / analysis to stakeholders of the respective business area
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
MI Reporting
Preparation of monthly MIS and presentations for review by management
Deliver scheduled reporting tasks, preparation of analytical reports related to business performance or plan, serve a liaison / interface with various internal departments
Provide updates to management regarding plan/ forecast, variance analysis, tracking movements, informing them of deviations and opportunities.
Month end activities includes tracking, incorporating movements/ changes, data aggregation, validations, mappings and enabling tools ready for reporting.
Analyse business information to identify process improvements for increasing efficiency and effectiveness around Finance function
Provide support for management reviews and value added business Insights.
Identify positive and negative trends and anomalies associated with performance and communicate to business stakeholders.
Develop, implement and maintain support documentation regarding operations, functionality, framework, policies and procedures
Ensure implementation of the accounting guidelines and policies.
Monitor and continuously develop financial and control systems to ensure responsiveness to ‘business’ needs.
Automate manual operations tasks and optimize business processes to reduce workload and create proficiencies wherever applicable.
Forecast
Production & reporting for forecast on periodic basis.
Analysing the forecasts and giving value added insights on variances.
Accounting
Impact of the MI generated would have to be accounted for in the financials through journal / accrual posting into the general ledger.
Reviewing of the month end financials at cost centre and account code level (trial balance) to ensure that all transactions posted are valid.
Ensuring compliance of relevant accounting checks, controls and taking ownership of accounting journals posted. Be able to substantiate to auditor the basis and validity of the entries being posted.
Data integrity management
Validating the financial data received from key systems with appropriate check and balances
Understanding the implications on business performance and relate this in accounting terms
Reconciliation and validation of data at regular intervals
Deal with queries on data from Finance team and stakeholders independently
Ad Hoc
Working on ad hoc request received from internal and external stakeholders
Prepare, review and evaluate financials by case including financial planning and modelling.
Explanation the key movements and trends of MI figures to stakeholders
Competence / Knowledge / Skills required

Primary Skills:
Good accounting knowledge with month end closing activities, Record to Report, FP&A Skills, Office 365.
Secondary Skills
Strong interpersonal skills, quick learner, SMART worker.
Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyse and examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions.

Knowledge & skills (Desirable)
Good knowledge of Business Objects / SUN GL / Oracle EPM & Oracle Fusion
An understanding of the Insurance / Investments products sold / serviced by the business to the extent required.
Qualification
CIMA/CA/Cost Accountant/MBA in Finance/Post Graduate or a Graduate degree in Commerce with 6 to 8 years of relevant experience.
