We have an exciting opportunity to work with the PGCE department, assisting with observations. The PGCE Art, Design and Media (trainee teachers across West Durrington and Central Brighton campuses) and the in-service part time PGCE with working teachers at both Central Brighton and other colleges around the central Sussex area. All require multiple observations per teacher as part of their University of Brighton course requirements.

The following responsibilities will be required for this role:
3 hours per observation: 45 mins – 1 hour observing a lesson (guidance given)
1 hour 45 mins writing up feedback on the University of Brighton paperwork (training provided)
20 – 30 mins feedback time either face to face / Google meets
Observations are carried out to University of Brighton requirements, looking at areas such as subject knowledge, delivery, questioning, assessment, classroom management, embedding maths and English, rapport with students, areas of strength and areas for development.
Supportive guidance, suggesting helpful strategies and using questioning to develop the trainee teacher’s reflective skills are the backbone of these observations. Quick turn around and SMART feedback is key to successful observations.
