Business Description:
J.P. Morgan Asset Management (AM) is a leading investment manager of choice for institutions, financial
intermediaries and individual investors, worldwide, with over $2 trillion of assets under management. The Client Service (CS) organization serves as guardian of the client experience for AM. The CS team of ~900 employees located in over 20 locations around the globe. It manages the entire lifecycle of the client, from onboarding to dayto-day servicing. These activities include client reporting, RFP, onboarding, KYC and direct relationship management and servicing of Institutional, Funds and Global Liquidity clients. In addition, Client Service is responsible for managing relationships and reporting to the Boards that ultimately run AM’s fund complexes. This support includes product administration, board management, funds registration, tax, product implementation andvendor management.
The Vendor Management team support the growth of the Asset Management business and our funds by working with the AM business functions and suppliers to ensure delivery of high quality and cost effective services which meet our fiduciary obligations. The remit of Vendor Management is to provide subject matter expertise pertaining to the management of suppliers, including the selection, due diligence, regulatory compliance, governance, market intelligence, commercial and contractual arrangements.
Role Description:
This VP role is based in Mumbai and will be an integral part of the Vendor Management team in supporting the AM business. The direct reporting line is to the Head of Vendor Management Due Diligence. The responsibilities will include the facilitation of the selection, due diligence, regulatory compliance, governance, market intelligence, commercial and contractual arrangements within the supplier space across Europe and globally.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitating and supporting the AM business in their governance and oversight of the supplier landscape
Monitoring market, industry and regulatory trends impacting AM’s outsourcing strategy and suppliers involved
Intelligence gathering in relation to supplier service offerings and capabilities of key service providers to the asset management industry
Experience of auditing Fund Accounting, Financial Reporting, Custody, Transfer Agency services.
Anticipating future market trends impacting asset management supplier strategy
Compiling of data and information regarding existing AM supplier relationships and expenditure
Monitoring long term contract horizon to prioritise resources and engagement in relation to the
management of supplier contract renewals
Developing and maintaining long term relationships with key suppliers providers to the asset management industry
Developing understanding of the supplier value chain and demonstrating business and investor value for money
Supporting competitive market exercises such as Service and Fee Benchmarking, RFP and RFI initiatives in relation to the services that the business and/or funds procure
Providing support, unbiased advice, analysis and actionable recommendations to owners of supplier relationships within AM to ensure continual commercial focus and rigour
Partnering with other business-aligned functional areas (Legal, Compliance, Risk & Controls, Marketing, Technology, Front Office, and Operations) with respect to supplier initiatives
Engaging and partnering with corporate functions such as Global Supplier Services and Legal to deliver on AM’s supplier strategic requirements
Preparing materials for senior management meetings, board meetings, committees and forums (i.e.Commercial reviews, RFP findings and recommendations) to communicate performance, strategy and objectives of the vendor management function
Planning and conducting both initial and ongoing operational due diligence on both third party and affiliate suppliers
Managing regulatory change that impacts AM and its suppliers
Ensuring that supplier operating models are robust and effective
Acting as subject matter expert across the AM business in relation to supplier activities
Qualifications:
12+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry, with some exposure to Custody and Fund Services
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a major in Accounting, Business or Finance
Dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated professional with good organisational skills and the ability to work across multiple agendas simultaneously
Strong planning and project management skills and focus on process improvement, while working under pressure and the ability to progress multiple deliverables at the same time
Excellent presentation and communication skills: delivering messages clearly and succinctly with tailored approach depending on the target audience, including the creation of high quality presentations and reports
Leadership and relationship management skills, ability to build strong working relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including executive management, suppliers and control functions
Excellent analytical skills, preferably with a background in accounting, auditing or risk / control management
Resourceful with the ability to obtain information efficiently from multiple sources
Numeracy skills and the ability to interpret and draw conclusions from financial data
Technology savvy, advanced use of desktop tools for analytical and presentation purposes
