As the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, EIU helps leaders prepare for opportunity, empowering them to act with confidence when making strategic decisions. EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, assessing issues that impact the marketplace for over two hundred countries.
As a Senior Editor/Analyst in the Industry team you will be responsible for writing and editing articles and reports on a range of manufacturing and services sectors across the world. You will also work with managers, analysts, freelancers, economics, subedit and production teams, as well as our sales operation, to extend our industry analysis and coverage into new sectors.
Accountabilities
How you will contribute:
Produce high-quality reports and articles
Work with the Industry Managers and Analysts to write and edit articles and reports for several business sectors, meeting deadlines and schedules. Answer sub-edit and client queries as and when required
Monitor and guide junior analysts to improve the quality of their written work, offering training where required
Work with the economics team and others to develop data, forecasts, reports and analysis for new industry sectors, ensuring that these meet client needs as well as EIU standards
Work with the product development and digital teams to ensure that new content is delivered to clients in a user-friendly and timely manner
Lead our coverage of one or more business topics, establishing the focus and scope of our coverage
Use your expertise externally and internally
Support the Principal Analyst and other team members in producing white papers, presentations and other special content as needed
Create and present analysis to clients on areas related to your own expertise
Develop a media presence, working with our marketing and PR teams to ensure that EIU opinions are in the public domain
Experience, skills and professional attributes
The ideal skills for this job are:
Excellent writing and editing skills in English, and an ability to write well under time pressure
Expertise in industry and business trends, gained either as an analyst or a journalist
A relevant degree (economics, business, English or a related subject is preferred). Journalism training would also be welcome
Strong numeracy and an interest in forecasting
The ability to juggle different tasks effectively and to mentor and guide other team members
