Job Description : VMware’s vCenter Server is the flagship management platform for Cloud services and the Software Defined Datacenter. We are looking to take our strength and leadership in compute and virtualization and extending the focus from VM-centric to app-centric and ensuring application quality of service – from initial deployment thru its entire lifecycle.
The vCenter team is seeking a senior engineering manager for our vm life-cycle engineering team in VMware’s Cloud Platform Business Unit.
This leadership role will be responsible for core technologies within our vCenter and vSphere platform such as Provisioning, Content Library and Tagging. You will work with other teams across VMware to establish a strategy and roadmap that delivers on the emerging needs of the cloud and infrastructure admins partnered with application developers and operators.
You are someone who has a track record of delivering quality software products. You should have experience with agile software development techniques, test driven development, and working with hybrid and innovative SDLC methodologies. You will be highly technical, detail oriented with focus on implementation excellence as well as have significant project management expertise in large scale commercial enterprise product development. You have the ability to organize and work with teams in a remote site and drive change while understanding their unique needs.
Required Experience and Skills8+ years of experience leading complex technical projectsStrong systems expertise – OS internals, system design, vm life cycle managementPrevious experience with SaaS, Agile Development, DevOps and Cloud TransformationEnergy and passion around making an organization run efficientlyEffective leadership, influencing, mentoring skills and ability to inspire team membersExcellent communication skills, active listener, ability to adapt communication styles to different audiencesBS/BA degree in Technology fields (or equivalent)
