Your Role and Responsibilities
Information Developers are responsible for designing, developing, curating and analyzing the technical content that our clients depend on for digital self-service of our products. This technical content includes content in the product (especially embedded help/assistance) along with documentation, training, and support content. Focuses on Individual/Team/ Department Operational Objectives.
Demonstrate best practices for content development, design, and user experience within an agile software development environment.
Plan, design, develop, and publish IBM technical content (e.g., embedded in the UI, product tours, messages, product documentation, and multimedia) that is easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to find. This may also include guided tours as well as training, nurture, and community content.
Own the end-to-end authoring process: design, development, editing, production, translation, and life cycle management.
Evaluate content requests and work with stakeholders, such as Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Design to understand the business problem, goals, and desired outcomes.
Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
Develop comprehensive external (sales, marketing, technical publishing contents) and internal (business cases, customer wins, benefits statements, technical design and architectural documentation, etc.) that meets industry standards
Propose product design and process improvements, coordinate, and execute content development and user experience strategy.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
2+ years of experience as a Technical Writer for Enterprise Software
Technical Skills:
Experience in working with Agile teams and with latest DevOps practices like CICD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Development)
Knowledge of tools: Familiartiy with Content Management Tools
Working knowledge:
Knowledge of markup languages (such as DITA XML, Markdown, HTML)
Certifications:
Preferred: Certifications in technical writing like Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC).
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Familiarity with Cloud Computing technologies
Experience working with Data and AI teams.
