Introduction:
This role will be accountable for financial valuations and scenario modelling of business decisions for Debt Sale of different segments such as Write Offs, Informal Arrangements and other vulnerable RP customers across Cards, Loans and Current accounts. The candidate will need to apply new financial modelling approaches and explore automation opportunities in order to bring transformation on valuation methods. The candidate will also help in designing future risk-reward decision frameworks and deliver value add analysis whilst adhering to the governance framework in order to support the growth ambitions of UK Cards acquisitions. The candidate is expected to support a culture of sharing best practices across geographies and challenging the status quo in an effective manner.
The above would use UK Credit Cards, Loans, UK retail bank and other external data sources (structured & unstructured) and would result in decision optimisation for different customer portfolios.
Secondly, the ECM valuation model currently used by the commercial optimisation team, the responsibility of monitoring the performance of this model along with the proper governance of the model inputs and outcomes falls under this role. Thus, all activities such as back testing the models’ performance, answering all IVU queries, resolving any governance/ORCA-related issues, valuations governance with the proper control over the inputs and outputs of the models fall under this role. All pricing models, governed through this role are high materiality models, and come under the purview of following proper PRA guidelines for governance and are liable for regular audit checks.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate & has real world experience of advanced analytical methods, in particular the applications in various aspects of decision optimisation and have applied these techniques on consumer focused businesses or other mass data environments (Examples include consumer banking, credit cards, retail, travel, technology industry). An understanding of the various revenue & cost levers in the Unsecured borrowing domain is preferred.
What will you be doing?
Use Advanced Analytics to build and enhance financial valuationsPresent and communicate results to influence wide-ranging stakeholdersEnhance internal data mining assets & methodsIdentify new enhancement opportunities in data sources & toolkit to utilise for financial valuations.
Debt sales valuations:
Delivery of Debt Sale Valuations for the UK Cards and Loans portfolio.Bespoke strategy driven analysis for various sub portfolios such as Payers/Non payers, vulnerable pool, Written Off segment or COVID19 impact etc.Ensuring strong stakeholder management by managing regular interaction and efficient deliveryExtension of Debt sale Valuations to Other products such as Current Account etc.
Model Monitoring and Governance:
Helping with IVU related communication and establishing a smooth channel of communication with IVU to ensure the expectations are aligned at all times. Ensuring all the documentation are complete and updated to meet IVU expectationsCarry out regular reviews and enhancement to the P&L framework to support key pricing agenda across BUKRunning regular back testing and monitoring process for Risk & Rewards Model for both NCA and ECM.
What we’re looking for:
Knowledge of Unsecured Lending – Knowledge of regulatory and market trends, commercial drivers and products within the consumer finance industryUnderstanding of financial and managerial accounting; knowing the way around a P&L.Strong Commercial acumen – Understand and apply Value Based Management techniques and methodologies, Problem solver with analytical skills
Skills that will help you in the role:
Deep knowledge of regulator, market trend and competitor trends within the consumer financial services industryAnalytics experience in credit cards, retail banking or other mass customer focused business to drive profit growth or manage risk/costs in the businessFamiliarity of using supervised modelling methods (such as Regression) in commercial environment for financial estimation.Ability to consolidate and analyse complex data in order to build automation.Solid hands on programming experience with following standard data mining tools, SAS/SQL, Python, R.Ability to package ideas and results in a logical, understandable and compelling way for both technical and non-technical audiences.Bachelors Degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering etc.)
