Job Description : Job Description

We are looking for a Roaster to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for:
Roasting Department

Operate roasting equipment- meeting set goals, complete roaster training, pass basic roaster test Assist with roaster maintenance.
Set up/ clean up production cuppings daily.
Accurately blend roasted and green according to recipes.
Accurately weigh out green coffee for the roaster.
Sample roasting on Ikawa.
Create new blends.
Suggest improvements or changes to maintain quality standards.
Roast up to 8 hours meeting production requirements.

Quality Control

High level cupping ability- Q graders preferred- training will be offered.
Daily cupping of production roasts.
Assist setting brew recipes.
Following correct procedure for updation of roast curves to ensure cupping scores remain high Oversee quality of green beans.
Alternate coffee products meet our quality standards- Recording quality checks.

Education

Lead regular team trainings on Cropster updates/ upskilling sessions.
Continuing coffee knowledge and education by attending industry events, classes and sharing industry publications. Host public trainings- cupping/ roasting.
Host education evenings and trainings with interdepartmental employees, customers, and guests about our coffees and company.
Host team meetings on occasions.

New Products

Develop new coffee products which align with our goals as a speciality coffee company.
Create new blends- wholesale, retail for alternate coffee products.
Create content for new products/ blends/ coffee launches- Roast data, tasting notes, farm info etc. Introduce new equipment and systems to improve efficiency and quality in roasting department.

Other Responsibilities

Familiarity with green coffee logistics.

Managment skills and ability to make excutive decisions.
Willingness to learn and grow as a roaster and coffee professional.
Organised and ability to keep work environment to the highest food safety standards.
Works well in a team, management skills a bonus.
Motivated to continuously learn and share knowledge with wider company.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide feedback constructively and resolve conflicts Basic Google sheets, Gmail skills.
