Position :
Job Description : Role Purpose
Acquire knowledge and ensure implementation of GKN & customer standards (e.g. CQI-9, CQI-12) of Materials (metals & non-metals), Induction hardening, Eddy current, tempering, crack detection, washing, oiling (rust prevention), carburizing hardening tempering (CHT) , phosphating, coating, metallurgical inspection & approval of parts, by reading the standards, auditing & correcting the processes according to standards, in order to achieve 100% compliance of processes & parts. Ensure met-lab support to production across shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Read & understand GKN standards, drawings, process sheets and customer standards (e.g. CQI-9, CQI-12).
Prepare documents & formats required in metallurgical laboratory & support preparation of documents & formats for production processes, to meet the requirements of standards.
Audit the documents in, metallurgical laboratory & on shop floor, like PFD, PFMEA, CP, work instructions, SOP’s, check lists, formats and get it corrected to meet the requirements specified in standards.
Conduct audits as per process and product audit plans, CQI 9 & CQI 12 audit plans, Safety & Critical Audit plans, Pokayoke audit plans (Induction Hardening / Crack Check Operations)
Communicate audit findings & ensure closure of gaps against the standards and process control plans, through regular meetings & follow up audits.
Operate, do autonomous maintenance, do PM & calibration planning & execution of plans, trouble shoot & maintenance of metallurgical laboratory equipment.
Interpret & analyze results and judge the approval of parts (as per GKN Standards), from Internal / External (from Suppliers) processes.
Maintain records & samples according to GKN standards and customer requirements
Monitor trends in products & process parameters, communicate & report changes in trends by conducting regular meetings and ensure control by correcting the processes.
Monitoring & controlling external testing, calibration, AMC & laboratory consumables cost as per budget. Etc.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
B.E. in Mechanical/metallurgy having an Experience of metallurgical analysis.
