Job Description
GENERAL SCOPE & SUMMARY
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users. May document engineering processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards. Responsible for planning and developing a wide range of information products for software, including guides, tutorials, Web-based help systems and specifications. Creates clear, concise, user-oriented documentation. Researches, writes, proofreads, edits and may translate end-user manuals and online help. Creates screen shots and illustrations using graphic tools. Assists in the design of documentation templates and the development of group’s tools.
PRIMARY ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs research and analysis and technical writing for Aspect products. Works closely with cross-functional teams to develop product information solutions that meet product and customer requirements. Uses appropriate authoring techniques, tools, standards, and processes to implement solutions. May lead documentation design and development effort for assigned projects. Specific job duties may include (but are not limited to):Identifying user goals and tasks.Creating and implementing a documentation strategy for a product.Providing usability design direction for our products.Coordinating, leading, and writing assigned projects (guides and online help).Consulting with Product Management, Development, and Quality Assurance to ensure that documentation meets product requirements.Testing documentation to ensure that it meets our users’ needs.Researching, evaluating, and recommending improvements to existing documentation and processes.
• Managing multiple projects at one time. • Strong knowledge in Agile Methodology of Software Development.Consulting with Product Management, Development, and Quality Assurance to ensure that documentation meets product requirements. Maintaining relationship with Stakeholders.Attending Daily standups, Sprint Planning Meetings, Cross Functional Meetings, Sprint Demo meetings to make sure that the Technical Writer is completely embedded in the SCRUM.Strong Team player participating in all Team activities and tasks including localization efforts, Rebranding of documents and other miscellaneous tasks.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS5 years technical writing experience.Experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Word, Excel, DITA Methodology, XML and HTML.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude. • Solid organizational skills. • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. • Independent self-starter able to work on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction/supervision. • Superior technical writing skills. • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.Resourceful with proactive, competent interviewing and information gathering skills.Ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment while maintaining a high-level of quality.Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, adapting to changing priorities.Ability to use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways. Ability to work with limited direction to independently determine and develop an approach to solutions that contribute to the development of the organization’s goals and objectives.Ability to provide resolutions to problems of complex and diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS4 – 7 years of experience.Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.Ability to pass a background check may also be required.Physical requirements include sitting for long periods of time.Ability to work Out-of-Hours.
