Job Description

The engineering manager provides leadership and strategic direction to internal and external on-shore, near-shore, and off-shore team members to produce the technical architecture and provide marketing technology operation subject matter experts for the Kimberly-Clark brands, business functions, and corporate web and eCommerce sites.

You will be an equal partner with product managers to secure alignment from key business stakeholders, plan and manage related budgets, lead the build, change, and run tasks, monitor application performance, and understand real-user behavior and needs balanced with business objectives to prioritize the road map. The engineering manager supplies product teams with dedicated engineers as well as technical subject matter experts as needed.

This marketing technology role leverages other disciplines, services, and practice leadership across IT to scale and operate efficiently. This role will lead the architecture, design, and development of features on commercial products installed at or running as a service for K-C as well as the APIs and interfaces between dependent systems. The role drives and manages the relationship with other internal engineering teams that deliver features and capabilities on centralized systems as well as with related vendors and their development partners.

This manager will review operational successes and challenges periodically, design the continuous improvement strategy for how systems will evolve, interact, and solve business needs and help drive the prioritization of these objectives in the product backlog.

This role reports to the global engineering manager for web and eCommerce and is closely aligned to the needs of the consumer and the local, regional, and global marketing business managers and product teams. Architecture, development, delivery, and marketing technical operations will align to and advance the global platform. The role is a peer to similar roles dedicated to the regions, as well as platform engineering.

Our expectations

Accountable for the engineering, delivery, and technical operations of digital web platforms and eCommerce features including related APIs, analytics, SEO, and marketing technology operations.
Attract, retain, engage, and motivate team members to promote a high performing, agile and focused team environment
Understand a broader vision from K-C, Commercial Transformation, IT, and your leader and be effective in managing change including removing barriers, influencing others, and operating as a partner
Establish trusting relationships with a global set of stakeholders to develop and maintain the strategic vision and priorities
Partner with stakeholders to manage features and deployment roadmaps and measure and manage market adoption
Manage vendors to influence vendor roadmaps and delivery of features based on agreed SLAs and pricing models
Provision technology through vendor research, request for proposals, and partnering with Procurement on vendor selection and contracts
Provide engineering leadership in building a global consumer engagement platform for the digital marketing landscape. Hire and groom world-class engineering talent for building the platform.
Deliver innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions to meet enterprise needs and to drive business growth and profitability
Maintain and share insight and understanding on best practices and keeping pace with competition and peer companies
Provide thought leadership in emerging marketing technologies and content strategies
Work with businesses and capability teams to establish business process sustainability and business benefits
Extensive collaboration with other IT service delivery teams to ensure high performance of the global application portfolio
Foster a culture of innovation, learning and continuous improvement
Be flexible with scheduling and working early and/or late hours to accommodate a global team
Define platform roadmap and execute it in alignment with the business objectives.
Identify technology opportunities which provide strategic/tactical advantages in planning, managing, and conducting the business.
Ensure engineering excellence in the implementations by governing the adoption of engineering best practices.
Engage with key customers and other external business partners to deliver IT solutions with high quality in a globally consistent manner. Represents the face of IT to the customer.
Enable staff with the needed functional and technical skills required to meet K-C’s growing application portfolio and changing technology needs. Help develop leaders through real time coaching and mentoring, driving with K-C’s global leader mindset.

Key Qualifications and Experiences

B.S. degree or equivalent
A minimum of 10 years of equivalent experience in information technology leading large, remote, global teams across time zones and a minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering management
7+ years of experience and deep understanding of digital marketing technologies is required, specifically with web site production and operations. Experience in implementing experience management systems on Sitecore is a plus.
5+ years of experience as a contributing member of product teams using Agile methodology, devsecops scope and approach
CPG industry experience preferred but is not required
Demonstrated skills in solution architecture, software development, engineering management, application delivery, strong sense of urgency in delivering results, high cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity, strong communication/collaboration
Significant experience in building highly skilled engineering teams
Experience in building and operating APIs (SOAP/REST) and microservices in cloud providers like AWS or Azure is a must
Strong portfolio and project management experience
Strong facilitation skills required. Must display vision and resiliencyand be able to speak to the audience
Verbal and written fluency in English is mandatory
Experience with internal business product development, including visioning, road-mapping, feature prioritization and go to market strategy
Ability to maintain and be accountable for a budget
Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship-building skills conducive to collaboration at all levels
Experience as a change agent at multiple levels of an organization
