Children who attend our Oasis class are currently not able to access mainstream provision but, with the support of our inclusion teacher and TA, are supported on a personalised learning journey, supported by speech and occupational therapists who deliver sessions on site. Overview:
We seek a suitably qualified special educator with a proven capacity to lead and effectively mentor a team of teachers, TAs and Inclusion Assistants. This demanding role requires a candidate with both appropriate qualifications and proven experience in the role of Special Educational Need Coordinator or Learning Support Coordinator. They will require initiative; will be empathetic and proactive, with a personable and positive character. The successful candidate will be required to collaborate with special educator colleagues across regional ISP schools, demonstrate a broad knowledge of disabilities and disorders, and be able to deliver or facilitate appropriate interventions and support in an academic setting. Experience working with students for whom English is an additional language would be an advantage.
Requirements and duties:
Bachelor Degree in Education/PGCE with post graduate, university level, Special Education qualifications- Masters in Special Education
Experience in the role of SENCO or Learning Support Coordinator, managing a team of educational professionals.
Promote inclusion and provide support to all staff, families and students on SEN and inclusion issues across the school.
Develop policies and practices leading to high quality outcomes for all students, including those identified with SEN.
Conduct all duties associated with the role of SENCO, including conducting and evaluating assessments, developing IEPs, IBPs and ALPs, collaborating with staff and parents to facilitate appropriate provision and support, and monitoring and reporting on students’ progress.
Maintain the Inclusion Register and provision map of interventions across the school for SEN, G+T, EAL and those students with learning or behavior issues.
Lead the Inclusion team within the school and be responsible for the effective use of learning support resources.
Identify training and development needs of the whole staff in light of student data and/or current curriculum changes, and lead in-house CPD learning support sessions.
Report on attainment and progress of students on the SEN register and review whole school assessment data to identify priority areas and/or students for targeted intervention.
Coordinate and lead delivery of intervention programs, evaluating their effectiveness and modifying as appropriate to the UAE context.
Liaise with external specialists and Inclusion colleagues to improve outcomes for students.
