Job Description : About the opportunity
Department Description
Finance Services in India supports Financial Services, Group and some parts of Eight Roads and Canada businesses. Core activities for Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Control and Procure to Pay are centralized with an aspiration to accelerate finance for future.
Purpose of your role
The role will support the Toronto based Corporate Accounting team and Corporate Tax team from India. This role will be a valued member of the Canadian Accounting team while working in a different geographical location. This role will work closely with members of the Canadian Accounting team, Canada Tax team and Canada Finance. The candidate will develop strong relationships with business partners to meet accounting and reporting requirements and will develop a strong working knowledge of the businesses.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Accounting:
You will be responsible for the execution of some accounting functions, including but not limited to: journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis for the business
You will take ownership over your work and contribute to the monthly and year-end close and will be responsible for producing various financial reports
You will develop and implement new/enhanced systems and procedures to ensure adequate accounting and control for specific accounting functions
You will support the Canadian Accounting Team in creating standard operating procedures and process documentation of the activities performed in Canada and India
You will support in preparing schedules and documentation for all external and internal audits
You will assist in preparation of IFRS compliant financial statements and stay abreast of developments in the industry impacting financial reporting.
You will assist with the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures as well as administering existing policies and procedures
You will document all internal operating and control procedures and assist with documentation of internal operating and control procedures for the Canadian Corporate Accounting team
You will participate in the development and completion of special and/or ad-hoc projects as assigned
Tax:
You will support in the preparation of the quarterly tax provision supporting schedules You will be responsible for the preparation of income/sales/other tax returns and supporting working papers
You will provide tax support for projects including tax audits and tax documentation (e.g., transfer pricing documentation)
You will be responsible for reconciliations of taxes payable continuity schedules
You will assist in the Financial Statement Note preparation and creation of supporting schedules
Special projects as necessary
SOX Light
You will conduct interviews with Canadian Business process owners to understand business process and data flows and document this understanding in process flow diagrams
You will identify areas with financial reporting risks and document the risk and controls
You will test controls and communicate the results of testing of controls to the stakeholders
You will develop and manage relationship with business partners across the Fidelity Canada organization
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required
Technical
A qualified chartered accountant with 2 to 3 years of working experience with progressively more advanced accounting, financial analysis, or controls work required.
Thorough understanding of IFRS (US GAAP an asset) and proficiency in financial statement analysis
Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analytic skills
Proven experience and expertise in relationship management within financial services and working across functional lines
Prior experience with Control design and assessment or SOX Controls audits an asset
An excellent level of attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of transactions and reports
The flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment where switching tasks to meet project demands will be required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Department Description
The Analytics function is based in India and supports Fidelity Worldwide Investment’s Sales, Marketing, Propositions, Risk, Finance, Customer Service and HR teams across the globe. The key objectives of the function are:
To develop deep customer insights for our businesses helping them segment and target customers more effectively
To develop a fact based understanding of sales trends and identify actionable sales growth opportunities for each of our sales channels
To understand customer preferences in terms of products, service attributes and marketing activity to help refine each of these
To help develop new services lines e.g. develop customer analytics for key IFAs, DC Clients, Individual clients etc.
To develop market and competitive intelligence in our key markets to help shape our business planning in those markets
The function works directly with business heads and other senior stakeholder’s stakeholders to identify areas of analytics, define problem statements and develop key insights.
Purpose of the Role
You will be expected to take a leading role in developing the Analytics capabilities for our businesses. This will involve:
Engaging with the key stakeholders to understand Fidelity’s sales, marketing, client services and propositions context
Engaging and collaborating with different other internal teams like data support team, technology team for development of new tools, capabilities and solutions.
Work collaboratively with all stakeholders, including IS and the Business in developing compelling next gen AI/ ML driven real time visualisations. With capability to feed into recommender engines.
Specialized BI Tool Reporting
Design / development of complex BI reports (i.e. joining of multiple universes, advanced syntax)
Ace time consuming report formatting and enhanced graphical representation of data
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Management (5-10%)
Works with channel heads/stakeholders and other sponsors understand the business problem and translate it into appropriate analytics solution.
Engages with key stakeholders for smooth execution, delivery and implementation of solutions
Developing and delivering solutions (40-50%)
Work collaboratively with all stakeholders , including IS and the Business in developing compelling data visuals & dashboards
Tool Development
Design & development of OBI / Tableau / Einstein Analytics dashboards, interactive BO WebI reports
Development of scenario based tools that leverage complex macros and/or large external data sources (i.e. revenue / admin fee forecasting)Works with tech groups to identify and resolve any data, environment, or implementation issues
Create automated AI analytics solution to map out the relationships between all metric, more so when there are hundreds and be able to identify important correlation.
Create visualisations that allow to make predictions online using either pre-trained Machine Learning models or training them online.
Data Management & Reporting
Maintenance of various lookup tables
Ad-hoc reporting capabilities -improve turnaround
Expand usage / expertise of Adobe tools, Decibel, Marketo, Seismic
Transition OBI dashboards to Tableau
Collaboration and Ownership (5-10%)
Sharing of knowledge, best practices with the team including coaching or training in some of deep learning/machine learning methodologies. Provides mentoring, coaching, and consulting advice and guidance to staff, e.g. analytic methodologies, data recommendations
Takes complete independent ownership of the projects and the initiatives in the team with the minimal support
Developing/evaluating tools, methodologies or infrastructure: (30-40%)
Evaluates/develops, advance tools, methodologies or infrastructure to support long-term business problems and take the group to the next level, e.g. modelling software, modelling methodologies, data and system requirements, scoring process, optimization environment
Experience and Qualifications Required
Qualifications:
Engineer from IIT/Master’s in field related to Data Science/Economics/Mathematics (Tie1 Institutions like ISI, Delhi School of Economics)/M.B.A from tier 1 institutions
Experience
Overall 5 to 8 years of experience in Analytics
4+ years of experience in Visualisation
Experience of working in AWS Environment
Should be able to run analytics applications such as Python, SAS and interpret statistical results
Knowledge of SPARK/Hadoop/Big Data Platform will be preferred.
Key Competencies
Ability to engage in discussion with senior stakeholders on defining business problems, designing analyses projects and articulating analytical insights to business managers
Strong working knowledge of Tableau. Ability to come up with Industry Competitive Dashboard/visualizations.
Experience with unstructured data and big data
Experience on SPARK/Hadoop/Big Data Platforms is a plus
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to independently own and manage the projects with minimal support
High degree of comfort in working with ambiguity
Excellent analytical skills and a strong sense for structure and logic
