Job Description : The Microsoft Cloud for Industry team builds platforms & services that enable our industry customers and independent software vendor partners to transform, innovate and delight their customers. We build our products with customers and partners to ensure they’re grounded in real-world requirements.
In the Manufacturing Industry team, we build services and solutions targeting production floor productivity, industrial IoT and open standards and platforms. We build those as packaged solutions and fully managed platform-services across the entire Microsoft technology stack and all Microsoft Clouds including Azure, Microsoft 365 incl. Microsoft Teams, Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.
Responsibilities
A Senior Software Engineer role in manufacturing includes the following core responsibilities:
In partnership with strategic customers and ISVs, design and build differentiated, 1st party industry products and services on Azure IoT, Power Platform and Microsoft Teams.
Validate solutions and products by working with customers and ISVs on early adoption of those solutions and products by those customers and ISVs as we build and ship them.
Collaboration with other Azure engineering, Microsoft 365 and Power Platform engineering teams to identify requirements and support feature development in those platforms to create an amazing end-to-end experience for our industry customers & partners.
Translating learnings from engagements to scenario-led engineering feedback to improve the Azure, Microsoft 365 and Power Platform components and services.
Developing repeatable patterns, including creation and publishing of content and code across multiple internal and external platforms.
Follow the best engineering practices
Mentoring junior engineers in team.

7+ years of experience with designing, implementing, debugging and launching commercial software products or web services
Experience in systems side of software development. Thorough understanding of computer science fundamentals, architecture, memory models, and algorithms design.
Proven ability to design and create componentized, well-architected software which can scale.
Be part of the live site culture and drive data driven improvements to both product quality and engineering efficiency
Excellent knowledge of Java/JavaScript/C#/REST Services/C++ and object-oriented concepts.

Due to the technical breadth of this role, we keep the technical qualifications broader and open. It is more important to us that you enjoy, and are capable of, learning new depth skills based on demand! However, some examples of relevant skills you’ll need as we start building solutions across the initial release cycles of our journey:
Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate/Flow, AI Solutions, Power BI)
Azure Serverless (i.e., Functions, App Services, Container Instances, Container Apps)
Data Platforms (i.e., Time Series Databases, Azure Synapse/ Azure SQL Azure Cosmos DB)
Messaging and IoT (i.e., Azure IoT, Service Bus, Event Hub, Stream Analytics, Kafka)
Skills in at least one typed and untyped development language and runtime such as:
.NET with C# or F#
Java
Python
JavaScript / NodeJs
Long-term, the following skill sets will be beneficial, as well:
Broader Azure Infrastructure experience (ARM, Bicep, Networking, Virtual Machines etc.)
Hybrid Cloud and Edge computing (Azure Arc, Azure IoT edge or comparable)
Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetis Service
Scripting such as Bash or PowerShell
Data analysis or engineering
As part of this role, you’ll spend most of your time (70%-80%) designing and implementing features with the technologies mentioned above. Specifications and requirements are defined in partnership with our product management team.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
