At GEMS Metropole we are looking for an experienced Speech and Language therapist to join us effective immediately. This is an exciting opportunity for a specialised educator to join our world class school and is driven to provide education at an exceptional level. Sucessful candidate will be working with Cambridge International School, Dubai and GEMS Founders School – Al Mizhar.

Job Purpose

To provide Speech and Language therapy for students, through individual, group and/or teacher directed therapy sessions across cluster schools.
Provide assessment for current and prospective students as needed
To contribute to training of School staff and others as required
To provide written documents as needed at a professional standard
To facilitate parent workshops and training on how best to meet the needs of their child

Job Role

To be responsible for the delivery of specialist speech and language therapy services including assessment, diagnosis and therapy.
To provide specialist intervention demonstrating clinical effectiveness by the use of evidence based practice and outcome measures while being able to adapt practices to meet individual students’ needs
To provide specialist therapy services utilising a variety of service delivery models including individual, joint, multidisciplinary, group and teacher directed sessions
Management of a highly complex and demanding caseload of children
To use specialist knowledge of standardised assessment and other assessment tools in combination with advanced reasoning skills to record baseline measures and/or differential diagnoses to support students learning needs
To provide speech and language targets for integration into the educational curriculum as part of each students’ IEP in consultation with parents, teachers and other multidisciplinary staff
To attend and participate in regular multidisciplinary team meetings and deliver training sessions for Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Parents
To regularly assess, monitor and review the students’ ongoing communication needs. Including writing intervention programmes for implementations by Teachers and Teaching Assistants in line with the schools graduated approach
Ensure service delivery meets the requirements as defined by the DHA and KHDA
Manage a caseload while taking into account priority cases, waiting lists, successful outcomes, referral and discharge of service users
Ensure DHA license requirements are fulfilled annually
Manage the database management and booking software.
Take responsibility for the ordering and subsequent storage and use of team equipment and resources including plans for risk management, infection control and safe handling.
Support newly qualified SLTs and speech
Represent the team/department within multi-disciplinary systems within the GEMS Group and wider community.
Undertake personal/professional development planning evidenced by a Personal Development Plan/Professional portfolio developed within an appraisal framework.
Attend relevant training and development in order to maintain and develop skills and knowledge required to support clients.

The successful candidate will have:

A minimum of 3 years experience as an Speech and Language therapist within a high performing department, preferably within a British Curriculum school
A minimum of 1 years experience as Speech and Language therapist in UAE
A certified professional teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, PGCE or equivalent specializing in Speech and Language therapy or similar
Additional qualification or specialism such as a PECS/Makaton/Social Thinking/Prompt/SCERTS is an advantage
Ability to build strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues
Ability to assess student performance, write language plans and set appropriate goals for students to ensure progress
DHA licensed
