Job Description : The Role
Design Authority S/4 Extensibility is responsible for delivering the S/4 Extensibility solution designs for the NextGen ERP programme. These solutions need to be fit for purpose within the Integrated design, have technical integrity, the right TCO (total cost of ownership) through its life cycle and a good fit with the NextGen ERP technology direction of Shell. The resultant High Level Design have a measurable impact on the effectiveness and profitability of Shell.
Responsibilities include:
Provide solution architecture development, consultancy and assurance to projects, making sure NextGen ERP & integrated applications are well designed, conform to Shell standards and reference/segment architectures. This includes:
Being able to address and integrate the: Business Process, Data, Application, Technical and Information Security aspects of an IT Solution.
Ensure projects solution architecture is documented using the relevant templates, tooling and conforms to standards.
Coach detailed designers and business analysts in projects during their design work.
Reviewing and accepting the detailed design of an IT solution.
Support Architects with reviews as and when required.
Follow IT Technology developments in the market and leverage this knowledge in architecting solutions in Shell. Ensure solutions are ‘future-proof’. Stay in touch with development of standards and standard services in IT at Shell. To ensure the latest service developments are taken into account. Interact with stakeholders on architecture issues and strategic improvements where such expertise is required. Maintain knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, including data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR), and ensure that those are included in architecture design decisions. Responsible for championing and embedding Security by Design and Privacy by Design in projects, and to ensure that the appropriate design decisions are made, documented and implemented. Work with IRM and DPO/SECO in case of unclarity around L&R requirements

The NextGen ERP Programme has been setup to ensure Shell enterprise wide programme management for the move towards the SAP S/4 and Master Data Management over the next decade. Through 2020 each of Shell’s businesses and functions have begun to draft roadmaps for this journey. SAP S/4 is a “once in a generation opportunity” to transform, simplify and automate many of our transactional processes. It will enable Asset Management on its Asset Management System (AMS) journey – with simplified common processes, data and systems across Upstream/IG and Downstream. Increasing reliability, productivity and safety is our goal. Procurement and Logistic processes will be simplified – using market standard – end to end processes in SAP S/4.
Process and Data design work is ongoing for both the Upstream/IG businesses, MDG and a Central Procurement (CFIN) solution that will provide a Digital Core to transform and radically simplify financial processes across Shell. Significant IT design and delivery has already kick started from Q3, 2021.
This role will report into IT product manager Integrated Design within the Product Management & COE ERP team as part of Information & Digital Engineering. This role will have end to end ownership for S/4 extensibility and needs to work with the other product teams, delivery teams and business excellence team.

The need to pro-actively identify and reconcile different – often competing – interests and requirements applicable to solutions, and the need to escalate conflicts timely as appropriate.

Typical Years of Experience: 7 to 10 years in IT with some IT leadership experience
Minimum Education or Certification: 4-year Degree related to IT
Strong stakeholder management skills; the role requires pro-active communication and an ability to work closely with other members in project teams and other disciplines in architecture in particular.
Strong communication skills; the role requires effective written and verbal communications. Including the ability to communicate architectural viewpoints and decisions using content appropriate for the audience.
Have a degree of hands on experience in S/4 Extensibility with a solid background in Abap and Abap OO
Have good to expert knowledge in all S/4 Extensibility components including In App extensibility, Flexible workflow, Business Objects, CDS Views, custom Odata, Forms and email templates, screen layout adaptation.
Have very good knowledge and understanding of Fiori and UX principles and how Fiori tiles are set-up and configured and be able to guide the business in best practices to achieve the ultimate benefits from using Fiori
Can display a good understanding of side by side extensions into BTP as you will need to work closely with the Integration and BTP DA’s designing side by side extensions
You need to display a good understanding of SAP Best practices and be able to guide developers in making extension to required standards
