Background
UniOps Tax Data Centre of Excellence team in Unilever is responsible for collection and analysis of tax data as well as performing / supporting tax compliance, tax reporting and tax audit. The areas to be handled relate to direct tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing. The team is also responsible for roll out of global tools, monitoring the tax control framework and maintaining Global Process Model (GPM) and exceptions resolution for tax related issues
Main purpose of job:
The Global Tax function has launched the Future of Tax (FOT) transformation project under the Digital Finance umbrella. As part of the Future of Tax project, compliance work related to direct tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing will be done by Commercial Experience Team, under a new target Operating Model (TOM). The new TOM will involve tax process to be performed across Global Tax team, Country Tax Team, UniOps Commercial Experience team and 3rd party consultant (Big 4s).
The UniOps team is envisioned to be the central tax data organization with the responsibility to deliver good quality data. The team has to manage tax data in order to improve the efficiency of the tax operations in a cost-effective manner.
UniOps team’s vision is to build an externally benchmarked, world class Tax Data COE which delivers End to End high-quality, accurate financial information for effective decision making and meeting regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements of the Role
Responsible for smooth transition of Direct Tax/Indirect Tax/Transfer pricing/Witholding Tax/Tax reporting process from country Tax team to UniOps Tax Operations team as per agreed deployment plan
Ensure that Global Process Model is cascaded and followed by the countries under transition, any variations to be formally approved
Ensure tax controls that are part of the GFCF are embedded into the process at the time of transition
Co-ordinate with team members and ensure that documentation (DTP), shadow and parallel runs including understanding all accounting flows are all completed as per plan
Recruitment of team members with right capability across locations as per transition plan
Training and Capability building of new team members
Directly manage a small team to 6 to 8 people to transition Tax Operations from countries to UniOps Hubs centres in China and Turkey
Support the roll out of global tools including GVRT/ITX Analytics etc to deliver efficiencies
Co-ordinate with PEC/Data Quality team to resolve all data issues that come up during transition/hyper care period
Ensure sharing of best practice and continuous improvement across all countries
Establish strong relationship with country Global Tax team and EY team
Other Skills:
Technical Skills
Working knowledge of Tax – Direct/Indirect/Withholding Tax/Transfer Pricing
Working knowledge of Deferred Tax, Advance Tax, Tax Adjustments
Knowledge of accounting entries and data flows related to tax
End user knowledge required in SAP (FI module).
Awareness of the latest tools/technology for tax related work
Digital awareness to drive process improvements
Experience in transition will be an added advantage
Soft skills:
Strong problem solving, and analytical skills
Good Stakeholder Management – Must have the ability to effectively communicate with senior personnel inside and outside of the company.
Should have a positive attitude and should be able to proactively get work done
Must be a self-starter with proven ability to deliver project successfully
Innovative thinking and working in ambiguous situations
Educational Qualification and Experience
Qualified CA/CPA with 10 – 12 years of experience preferred
Experience in leading transitions in shared services environment would be an added advantage
