POSITION: DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Location: Pune, India

Experience: 3 to 5 years

Job Summary

Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) team ensures that the production databases in the eGain cloud have high reliability, availability, scalability, and security at all times. This involves carrying out day-to-day tasks like backup, recovery, monitoring, troubleshooting, etc. to advanced ones like performance tuning, setting up high availability, and disaster recovery for the databases. The team has high focus on automating repetitive tasks and providing continuous feedback to product engineering, for improving the performance of the DB layer of our applications.

Duties/Responsibilities
Configuration and hardening of databases
Performing, automating, and monitoring database backups and restores
Monitoring and troubleshooting various database problems
Performance tuning and optimizations of SQL queries as well as databases
Continuous improvement on database housekeeping tasks by automating them
Design and build monitoring, reporting, and debugging utilities related to database systems
Research advanced, new features related to databases and suggest ways of using those in our cloud
Follow the mandated processes and adhere to the development/ maintenance guidelines
Participate in 24×7, follow-the-sun model to collaboratively work with the cross geography teams, on need basis
Education and Experience
Experience in administering SQL Server 2016 and above in a production environment
Experience in database backup, restoration, monitoring, reporting, and performance tuning
In-depth understanding of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) database solutions like Always-On
Experience in using T-SQL (Transact-SQL) to write queries, stored procedures, functions, SQL agent jobs, and linked servers
Worked on at least one of the following – SSIS/ SSRS/ SSAS/ any scripting language
Worked on public clouds like AWS/ Azure
Understanding of one more database other than SQL, preferably Postgres
Excellent communication skills and attention to details
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Must be able to work effectively and collaboratively with local and overseas team members
