Job Description : Food Warehouse Associate – Feeding Umpqua Food Bank

Location: Douglas County, Oregon
Salary: $14.30 – $17.90 Hourly

Position Open Until Filled

Full Time Position / Position works 40 hours per week $14.30 – $17.90 per hour depending on qualifications and

The Food Warehouse Associate assists the Warehouse Supervisor with the coordination of the flow of food and products to

and through the Emergency Food Bank Network in a safe, timely and equitable process. In partnership with other Warehouse

Associate position(s), this position is also responsible for the loading/unloading the Outpost Mobile Food Center, our mobile

pantry, and stocking its storage area located in the main warehouse and receiving/weighing/transporting and recording

donations received through the Fresh Alliance Program and other businesses/partners/individuals.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Food Warehouse Associate will:
Have products ready for distribution; pull and palletize USDA and agency orders; load agency vehicles; provide quality

customer service to agency personnel and donors.
Fresh Alliance. Pick up donated and purchased products, promoting and maintaining friendly, positive, and

courteous relationships with donors, store managers, volunteers, vendors and the general public. Ensures food

safety during transport and resolves food-handling problems. Loads/Unloads and organizes products in the

warehouse. Sort all products and assure all materials are ready for each day’s pick-ups.
Accurately count, track, weigh and document incoming and outgoing inventory and donations within the warehouse

and the Fresh Alliance Program.
Help to maintain an extremely organized and efficient warehouse using best practices.
Operate using Primarius the computerized inventory system. This is to include receiving deliveries, monitoring

orders, allocating and distributing product. Know all phases of the system.
Assist as needed with pickup, deliveries and processing of food drives, donations, and special events. Support events

as needed.
Help maintain warehouse; keep loading areas clean and organized; eliminate hazards.
Help organize stock and load products for the Outpost Mobile Center.
Provide support to Feeding Umpqua volunteers, ensuring safety in lifting and warehouse work
Cross-train with other food bank personnel to learn additional skills and to be able to cover during co-worker

absences.
Actively attend and participate in all Food Bank Team activities and Agency-wide activities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:
Two years work-related experience OR satisfactory equivalent combination of work-related education, experience

and training. Computerized inventory experience a plus. At time of appointment, must possess Oregon driver’s

license. Experience with operating forklifts and ability to become certified to operate a standing forklift. Ability to

obtain ServSafe for Food Banking certificate within 1 month from date of hire.
Basic understanding of warehouse operations; basic knowledge of general office practices and procedures and

computer use.
Safe operation of equipment, which includes forklift and agency vehicles; use of automated equipment and

systems. Work in a safety conscious manner at all times
Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; perform several tasks simultaneously; good

organizational skills; work within a team structure; make decisions independently in accordance with

established policies, , perform basic computer functions, prepare written reports in a timely manner and

maintain inventory control records, perform basic math functions, perform strenuous and repetitive activity,

maintain confidentiality; remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high pressure

situations; courteously meet and deal effectively with coworkers, volunteers, community agencies, clients and

the public. Must follow all safety rules and practices, and perform work in a safe manner.

This position requires driving. At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon driver’s license. Out of state

license holders are required to obtain Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Finalist must provide court

print driving record that meets the requirements of the UCAN Driver Policy as part of contingent offer of

employment.

This position requires bending, occasionally lifting and carrying between 1 and 25 pounds. Reaching, walking,

carrying, sitting, pulling, stooping, keyboarding, pushing, standing and hearing voice conversation.

Concentrated mental and/or visual attention; the work involves performing complex tasks to very close

accuracy and quality specifications; or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods
