Job Description : ALK Source Materials, Inc., a leading manufacturer of quality allergenic biological source materials, and a member of the global ALK-Abello’ group of companies, is recruiting for open QC Scientist I-II position. Join our stable and growing company and provide leadership and expertise to our workforce located in our 120,000 square foot facility in Post Falls, ID.The QC Scientist is responsible for performing release and stability testing of source materials, including protein profile (SDS-PAGE, Native PAGE), Western Blot, allergen potency (major and total allergen activity by ELISA and RID), total protein (BCA and Lowry), GC, Karl Fisher (volumetric and coulometric), LOD, FTIR, with limited input from supervisor. Analysts may also perform aseptic microbiology tasks and plate reading, source material identification using microscopy methods, water purity analysis, and environmental monitoring. Other responsibilities include authoring scientific documents such as SOPs, data trending reports, laboratory investigations and hypothesis reports; participating in analytical methodology transfers internally and externally as needed; accurately recording and reporting both qualitative and quantitative data. QC Scientists are also required to maintain appropriate documentation as directed by cGMP and must also support IOPQ and calibration activities related to analytical laboratory equipment.This QC Scientist position will specifically be responsible for providing analytical system support on laboratory computers, software, and instruments, including troubleshooting and resolving software related equipment issues and repair, both independently and working with Subject Matter Experts. The position will also assist the Validation Department with annual assessments of laboratory computer systems and equipment, along with equipment repair and preventative maintenance. Other responsibilities include managing laboratory service contracts, PMs, and component outsource testing, as well as investigating and developing global site testing alignment.The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology or Chemistry (or on track to graduate soon) and up to 4 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience in a highly regulated environment or laboratory setting. Hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of common analytical and scientific methods and theory is required, along with demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data and make conclusions accordingly. Must have working knowledge of Quality Systems and Regulatory requirements such as: GMP, ICH, FDA, OSHA, and European Authority.All positions at ASM require the ability to work around deceased stinging insects, allergenic antigens, hazardous chemicals, solvents and laboratory reagents.ALK provides competitive compensation and benefits packages, including 401k with company matching and profit-sharing contributions and generous time off programs.
