The Population Research Center (PRC) resides within the College of Urban and Public Affairs. Position Summary
The Population Research Center (PRC) at Portland State University invites applications for a Research Associate. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of demographic data sources and methods (especially related to population projections); demonstrated expertise with statistical programming; experience designing and completing ambitious research projects, and interest in working collaboratively with other faculty investigators.
This position will be the lead researcher responsible for producing state and county level population projections by race/ethnicity, and for American Indian tribal lands within the borders of the State of Oregon. The incumbent will be expected to select appropriate methodologies and collaboratively plan and implement a research approach; consult with stakeholders and evaluate all necessary data and background information; document methodology, assumptions, and results in clear, concise reports and presentations, and to ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables and compliance with program requirements.
In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute to one or more other research projects related to migration, small area population estimates, GIS, or demographic analysis to support redistricting. Other assignments may include supporting scholarly activities in service to the University, community, and profession, for example instruction or advising students, serving on committees, editing or preparing manuscripts and grant applications or reports, and contributing to sponsored projects.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree or Bachelors degree with equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications
Four or more years of progressively responsible research experience.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting annual salary rate for this position will be $62184. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
