PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
You will be working as a member of the Mainframe Tech Services infrastructure support team. Our mission is to provide the IBM system Z infrastructure (hardware and software) required by the ZSolutions business unit R&D, Sales and Customer Support organizations. You will work in conjunction with the Mainframe Tech Services team members and with the various Z Solutions teams to define, configure, install, modify and make available the appropriate z/OS, z/VM and Linux on z hardware and software products to be used for their product development and testing purposes.
Provisioning z/OS, z/VM and z Linux LPARs or virtual systems.
You will be Performing problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems.
Participate in early ship/early support programs as needed.
Implement new hardware and software technologies as required.
Develops documentation and provides knowledge transfer to peers.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience: three to five or more years’ current experience as a systems programmer with knowledge of a current zSeries operating system (z/OS, z/VM).
Working knowledge of z/OS systems administration, including USS, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, JES2/JES3, JCL
Expert knowledge of and proficiency with IBM products and utilities; prefer experience with BMC utilities.
Knowledge of and proficiency with installation, configuration and maintenance processes for IBM and ISV software products.
DESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) SKILLS:
Thorough problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution, and independent work habits are necessary requirements.
Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks.
Ability to remain calm, cordial, and effective during the resolution of time critical system interruptions/difficulties/failures.
Experience working with mainframe hardware: e.g. IBM processors; storage systems from IBM & OEM’s like Hitachi, Dell EMC; SAN switches/directors.
Coding skills in REXX, SAS
