Position Details
NOTICE OF VACANCY
TITLE: Technical Support Specialist (Full Time)
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SUMMARY:
Serve as the point of contact for Information Technology for Marcellus Schools and facilitate a successful resolution of support requests. This relates to all technology, including workstations, servers, printers, networks, vendor-specific hardware, A/V equipment, licensing, and software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1-3 years of relevant experience in an IT environment (school environment preferred)
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology field is preferred
Highly motivated, strong attention to detail and follow up skills. Must possess the ability to establish reasonable and attainable deadlines for resolution. Strong problem solving skills.
Professional written and interpersonal skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
Provide application and device technical support to end-users in a timely manner by answering questions and troubleshooting needs.
Function as a liaison with our remote network team and also external vendors.
Work alongside our network team to facilitate operational and data security.
Ensure that all technical aspects of the district are functioning optimally.
Responsible for device evaluation, purchase, deployment and repair
Update the district website.
Maintain and support classroom and meeting room audiovisual technology.
Responsible for creating new staff accounts.
Maintain an inventory.
Responsible for yearly software licensing.
Represent district needs at county and regional technology related meetings.
Maintain confidentiality.
Comply with district policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Experience troubleshooting IT hardware
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
Ability to advise others in the use of district technologies
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Computer repair skills
Willingness to be on call and attend to technical issues outside of normal business hours
General knowledge of student information systems
Knowledge of network and desktop systems
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Daily work involves operation of personal computer equipment. Duties may also involve stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and moving of equipment in order to install or check the installations of network devices and cabling. Travel to other worksites is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Client environments may vary.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Approximately 35- 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Hourly $20- $30 based on experience
