Job Description : Overview:

Ticket Chekers are responsible for greeting on mountain guests, act as a source for mountain information, and on mountain ticket and line management. This position will spend their full shift outdoors on the mountain or in the base areas. Flexibility, excellent guest service skills, enjoyment of the outdoors and the mountain environment are a must. We want you to be able to ride daily so that you can share your first hand knowledge and enthusiasm for Big Sky with our guests. Ability to ski/ride at an intermediate or higher level is a plus, but not a must. All other duties as assigned. OUTDOOR approximately 100% of time.
Responsibilities:

Ticket Checkers will be in continuous contact with guests, employees and the Mountain Operations team including: Lift operations, Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, and the Road Crew, throughout their work day. The Mountain Services department is a part of the Mountain Sports and Services Division also including Ski School and Basecamp. The Mountain Services team works directly or indirectly with all other departments and divisions at the resort.
Ticket Checkers can be in many different places on the mountain, but will always be present in both the Mountain Village and Madison base areas. For that reason we will have Leads and an Outside Operations Supervisor stationed in those areas on a daily basis. If Ticket Checkers are outside of the base areas and ticket offices, they will be working independently and will be required to check in periodically with the Outside Operations Supervisor.
Ticket Checkers must work as a team particularly when they are working immediately next to each other in the base areas. They must be able to communicate to create the best possible guest experience. The actions of one individual on a team equates to the actions of everyone on that team.
Ticket Checkers will spend extensive amounts of time in the outdoor environment. Temperatures in the mountains in Montana can be quite cold and windy and our team will need to be outside during those times. Challenging guest interactions can be present on a daily basis for many different reasons and it is important for Ticket Checkers to listen to guests and help in any way that they are able to do so.
Responsible for meeting, greeting and assisting guests as they arrive at the resort and throughout the ski day.
Knowledge of Big Sky Sports products, mountain terrain and village services, activities and events to assist in guest service.
Examines ticket or pass to verify authenticity and scan barcode to verify validity before guests load the lift.
Must be familiar with daily snow and grooming report.
Answer guests issues and questions promptly and politely.
Shifts will rotate locations from the Mountain Village base area to the Madison Village base area on a weekly basis.
Skiing/snowboarding experience is a plus, but willingness to learn is a must. Riding (Green slopes) may be required on any workday.
Must be comfortable working outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a guest service environment is very important to the Ticket Checker position. We are around guests 100% of the working day and must be comfortable in that environment. A successful Ticket Checker will be comfortable initiating conversations with guests throughout the work day.
There is a significant amount of area and ticketing knowledge that each Ticket Checker must learn to successfully assist resort guests. A week of paid training at the beginning of employment will provide much of that information, but spending off time at the resort and the surrounding area is necessary to gain additional information.
Skiing or riding abilities are not necessary, but a willingness to learn is important. Skiing/riding will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of the mountain which you will be able to share with guests.
