More than 3.5 million visitors enjoy the Park each year, making it one of Oregon’s top tourist destinations.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Visitor Services Supervisor (Weekend) is a part-time onsite position, responsible for visitor service-related operations at the Park for EWP on weekends and some holidays/weekdays. This role will implement a range of EWP programs, as assigned by the Programs Coordinator, including the weekend set-up, take-down, and staffing of offsite parking operations. The role will also, in the absence of the Programs Coordinator, supervise weekend staff who provide visitor information, as well as those temporary staff who conduct visitor surveys.The Visitor Services Supervisor will report to the Programs Coordinator and provide data, information, and feedback that assists the Programs Coordinator in structuring operations and managing visitor services staff. The Visitor Services Supervisor will also work on a number of projects related to the upkeep and maintenance of items related to parking and visitor services for EWP, focusing on these and other projects as assigned (more likely in off-peak season, and during lower-traffic shifts).Weekends and holiday work required. Some evenings.16-24 hr./week.o Peak Season (May-November) 3 days a week.o Off-Season (January-April) 2 days a week.o December holiday week(s) and Spring Break week the opportunity for 30+ hours.Salary and Benefits$24 to $28/hr. dependent on experienceRetirement matched at 3%Vacation and sick time accrualTriMet passDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupervising of front-line staff and coordinating of operations on weekends, and during some holiday weeks, for the following programs:Offsite Parking ServicesIn conjunction with the Programs Coordinator, make the decision to activate offsite parking when appropriate.Supervise the set-up and take down of offsite parking, including setting electronic sign messaging, and other traffic control messaging and objects.Provide in-person support and supervise staff for onsite parking.Summer Seasonal Visitor Service: EWP hires seasonal staff from Memorial Day to Labor Day to provide in-person visitor assistance and information. Field staff currently operate out of a booth at the International Rose Test Garden and a booth at the TriMet MAX station.Supervise setup and take down of weekend visitor services resources (booths, etc.).Provide in-person support for weekend visitor services staff.Provide in-person support and supervise temporary staff completing visitor surveying.Free Shuttle programServe as the weekend contact for drivers when visitor questions or needs arise.Report problems, questions and other details to the Programs Coordinator as needed.Other Duties:Assist the Programs Coordinator in upkeep, inventory, and purchasing of traffic-control items, and visitor service items, as needed.Report seasonal staff success and challenges to the Programs Coordinator to inform staffing decisions.Identify opportunities to improve and expand services.Maintain good relationships with a number of park stakeholders, including Portland Parks & Recreation, Metro, Portland Japanese Garden and the World Forestry Center.Respond to visitor concerns that occur in person, via phone, and via email/internet.Facilitate the EWP lost and found, respond to visitor lost and found queries.Maintain and report on a number of data logs for the organization, including lost and found, visitor concerns log, survey and customer counts, and others as assigned.Fill visitor maps at a number of locations in the Park as well as deliver to some offsite partners.Other duties as assigned.SKILLSAbility to work weekends, holidays, some nights.1 year experience supervising staff.4 years of experience providing exceptional visitor service.Strong written and communication skills.Able to uphold a high level of performance from direct reports.Experience using computers, tablets, and phones in a work setting.Ability to drive an EWP vehicle and valid driver’s license.Ability to work outside in a variety of conditions.Positively represent Explore Washington Park and other institutions.Bilingual preferred.Ability to work independently.COMPETENCIESService focused.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet.Self-motivator and able to work independently.Diplomatic and able to consider many viewpoints when making a decision.Process-oriented.Commitment to increasing equitable access to Washington Park.Appreciation and commitment to protecting the natural world.Flexible in a constantly changing work environment.To ApplyPlease email a resume, cover letter, and an answer to the supplemental questions.
