Job Description : JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Job Title: Administrative Staff I Date Updated: January 2020 Direct Report: Lead Admin FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Full-Time Hours Worked: 40+/week
BASIC PURPOSE
General knowledge of tasks required for the operations of the front desk and scheduling in an outpatient facility.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

One year previous medical office experience.
Ability to do essential duties.
Ability to read, understand, write, speak and follow English instructions. Bilingual abilities preferred.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely for effective communication.
General knowledge of insurance benefits.
Must be able to type 25 words per minute.

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to use excellent communications skills.
Ability to manage stress appropriately.
Ability to manage time efficiently.
Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritizes effectively.
Ability to work alone and/or with others effectively.
Ability to work in close proximity to others in a distracting environment.
Possesses common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. The following are the essential functions of the job.
Duties:
1. Greet and check-in patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner.2. Schedule, coordinate, reschedule and confirm patient appointments. Relay necessary messages to staff.3. Answer incoming calls in all job capacities.4. Verify patient information, prior exams and history, and thoroughly document necessary information in RIS system.5. Collect appropriate co-pay, co-insurance or deductible at the time of service and strictly adhere to cash bank procedures/policy.6. Obtain insurance information regarding co-pays, deductibles and percentage payments.7. Assist department with verification of benefits and authorizations as needed.8. Scan referrals into system for calling and scheduling patients from work list.9. Coordinate film/report pickup and delivery, as needed.10. Perform additional duties in medical records as assigned.11. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 – $17.00 per hour
