Job Description : We are seeking an Assessment Specialist to work as a team member performing assessments and screening for patients of various ages for clinical and medical appropriateness. Make a difference in someone’s life by joining Desert Winds Hospital a new behavioral health hospital.
Assessment Specialist Responsibilities:
Provide response to requests for services, including the initial response, assessment and referral process, the designation of appropriate level of care, initiation/admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
Provide initial evaluation and initiate the integrated assessment, documenting patient symptomology/functioning/needs.
Relate to patients in age-appropriate manner.
Staff each assessment with appropriate physician, documenting DSM-V diagnoses, when appropriate.
Demonstrates ability to appropriately utilize DSM-V 6.
Advocate for lowest level of care consistent with patient’s needs.

Assessment Specialist Qualifications:
Requires a Master’s Degree in psychology, counseling, behavioral health/mental health, social work, or related field and/or currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by that state of Nevada.
Must have a clear and valid Nevada diver’s license.

Additional Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years in direct clinical experience in a behavioral health/chemical dependency setting in addition to experience is patent assessment, referral, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
Thorough knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, strong leadership/management abilities, higher level of organizational skills, ability to screen and assess all age groups.
Marketing and sales abilities to effectively and appropriately communicate facility programs, values, and hospital mission.
Timely renewal of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for healthcare professional certification, annual professional skills verification, and CPI certification. Classes are provided by Desert Winds Hospital.
