Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and successful Intercollegiate Athletics Administrator to lead the TMCC Athletics program. The Director of Athletics will oversee Athletics, Health, and Wellness including all activities of TMCC’s Soccer Team, Fitness Complex, Physical Education, and Personal Training programs. The Director of Athletics, Health, and Wellness is a 12-month position reporting directly to TMCC’s President. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. 2. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible, related work experience in intercollegiate athletics. 3. Knowledge and capacity to understand Federal Title IX regulations and the NJCAA. 4. Demonstrated experience in developing and managing multiple budget/revenue generating accounts, including facility management. 5. Demonstrated experience in hiring, supervising, evaluating and leading faculty and staff. 6. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, ability to inspire and build trust, and facilitate staff growth. 7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. 8. Experience managing intercollegiate athletic programs. 9. Successful fundraising and development experience. 10. Ability to build and maintain relationships and establish an institutional culture of engagement with the campus community, the community of Reno/Sparks, and TMCC alumni. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Served in an athletics administration leadership position with experiences reflective of the TMCC responsibilities. 2. Experience with physical education programs, class scheduling, teaching, and supervising faculty.
3. Coaching experience at the collegiate level.
4. Background and experience with athletic training. Responsibilities: Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and a respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
1. Develop and implement an aggressive Strategic Plan for Athletics, Health, and Wellness that aligns with the College’s Strategic Plan and Vision, SWAC Conference and NJCAA. 2. Collaborate with internal and external constituents to identify and coordinate joint ventures that will enhance the Athletics Department and TMCC’s Goals and Vision. 3. Actively promote TMCC’s Athletics Program and college. Work closely with the TMCC Marketing and Communications Office to ensure timely communications are distributed to various media and communications outlets. 4. Develop athletic schedules and coordinate athletic home and away contests. 5. Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, supervising, and evaluating of all TMCC athletic employees. 6. Develop and implement student-athlete well-being programs that include academic compliance, sports medicine, training and social services to ensure student-athletes achieve their full potential including appropriate academic progress, retention, and degree completion. 7. Manage and oversee Athletics Department budget and provide responsible budget stewardship. Develop and implement a plan for the identification and successful solicitation for new and sustainable external revenue and to support the TMCC Athletics Program. 8. Develop and implement plans for generating revenue and attendance at TMCC athletic events. 9. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators, student government associations, alumni, and the local community regarding athletics at TMCC. 10. Prepare all required College, Conference, NJCAA and Federal Reports. 11. Advise TMCC’s General Counsel in decisions regarding eligibility and discipline using NSHE Code, TMCC policies and procedures, and NJCAA guidelines to ensure full compliance. 12. Attend Conference Meetings, Regional and National NJCAA Meetings and all other relevant or required Meetings. 13. Coordinate the Physical Education and Personal Training programs. 14. Teach courses as needed. 15. Oversee management of the Soccer Field and Fitness Complex.
Salary Information: $68,470 – $85,588, initial salary placement is dependent on education and experience.
