Position : Billing Assistant
Job Description : The Billing Assistant verifies benefits and eligibility, completes billing documentation and reconciles issues for all payer sources in a timely fashion. In addition, the billing assistant prepares specific reports as directed. This position reports directly to the Billing Manager and Controller.FUNCTIONS1. Verify Medicare and commercial insurance eligibility and obtain authorization.2. Create and fax notifications requests to Medicaid within five days of hospice enrollment.3. Assist admissions with all Medicare, commercial insurance, and Medicaid verification needs.4. Verify claim and payment status.5. Submit 81A forms.6. Correct claims that have errors and resubmit.7. Verify that all billing is completed for discharged patients.8. Follow-up calls to Medicare, commercial insurance, and Medicaid as needed.9. Coordinate with PCAs for signed and accurate physician certifications.10. Develop accounts receivable and aging report monthly.11. Develop census report monthly.12. Compare and report daily censuses and verify payer source.13 Assist in all areas as needed to insure billing functions smoothly.1. College experience or related life experience.2. At least two years experience in billing assistance/ Medicare and Commercial.3. Excellent communication skills both written and oral.4. Experience in running various billing reports.5. Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel.6. Experience running various financial reports.
