Job Description : Clerk:
Under the supervision of the WIC Clinic Supervisor and the WIC Clinic Coordinator, performs the functions of a WIC Clerk in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. The Clerk performs all client intake tasks, computer input, benefit issuance to participants and education of benefit usage. The Clerk also verifies patient/client appointments, schedules initial and return appointments, screens all clinic calls for program eligibility and prepares client files. Work may also involve conducting various outreach activities in the community and surrounding area. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES :(including but not limited to):

Greet clients and visitors efficiently and professionally
Maintain the log of client sign-sheets and track their wait time
Provide efficient telephone service and transfer calls according to established protocols
Accurately issuing benefits and education of benefits
Performs program eligibility, assist clients in accurately completing forms and ensuring up-to-date documentation for all client information including immunization records
Assists clients by providing breastfeeding support as needed
Pulls and files client charts as need while following HIPPA rules and regulations
Print standard list (clinic schedule) daily
Performs reminder call and rescheduling of appointments
Termination of client benefits in program computer system according to program guidelines
Compiling and submitting monthly reports as required
Maintain the Clerk work-space area including forms and charts
Post closure signs on clinic doors
Demonstrate, uphold and adhere to Sunrise Children’s Foundation’s core values of Mutual Respect, Integrity, Commitment, Trustworthiness and Empowerment
Travel to other WIC sites and to trainings as required
Other duties as assigned by Program Manager, Clinic Supervisor, or Clinic Coordinator

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
:

Must be able to work for long periods of time while maintaining concentrated attention to detail.
Must be able to sit a table or desk for long periods of time with occasional standing, walking, squatting or reaching.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without material handling equipment
Must have manual dexterity to use office equipment including but not limited to a copier, computer key board, or phone key pad
Must have the ability to hear and speak face to face, over telephone or in virtual meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:
:

Education & Work Experience: High school graduate or equivalent is required 1-4 months of clerical work experience is required Skills & Abilities: Must be organized, display strong time management abilities and have attention to detail to effectively meet clinic needs Must maintain a positive, open and objective attitude towards others Must be able to accurately type. Must have a good working knowledge of English, grammar, punctuation, spelling style, etc. Must have the ability to operate standard office machines such as computers, tablets, printers, copiers, etc. Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) programs and other software programs as needed Must have the ability to answer telephones and greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing schedule and/or work tasks Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and work independently with limited direction from supervisors Properly utilize knowledge of policies and procedures mandated by the WIC State Program is required Must have the ability to interact with tact and discretion with supervisors, officials, employees, and the public. Ability to speak in a clear and understandable manner and write legibly using the English language is a requirement. Maintain a positive, open and objective attitude towards others including volunteers and interns Willing to engage, support, include and work with volunteers and/or interns on an on-going or as needed basis Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of incoming paperwork is a requirement. Must submit negative TB results (One-Step Skin Test or Chest X-Ray) prior to hire date and duration of employment Must pass pre-employment and maintain a drug-free workplace Must have obtained the COVID-19 vaccine and be fully vaccinated prior to starting employment with Sunrise Children’s Foundation.

Preferred: Bilingual (English-Spanish) speaking and writing skills helpful but not required. 6 months experience in a business or clinical environment is preferable 6 months experience with a multi-line phone system is very helpful 6 months general clerical experience (filing, faxing, copying, etc.) is encouraged
