JOB TITLE: Communications Specialist
Reports To: Director of Community Engagement FLSA: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Effective: February 21, 2022
Summary:
This position will focus on community engagement through varied communication avenues, with a focus on digital resources and social media. The position will also have a coordinating role with the CLAS workgroup, is responsible for ensuring CLAS standards implementation and adoption throughout the entire organization, and communication amongst staff and volunteers. This position will also support outreach activities and events within community settings, particularly within focus communities disproportionately impacted by sexual violence and exploitation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
Monitor and update SOH and Party Smart websites with organization updates to highlight priority programs and issues
Create content and graphics for social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and other platforms that Signs of HOPE utilizes
Regular engagement with community on social media, including sharing community partner spotlights and other communications, as well as working to continue building organic social media development and reach
Oversee tracking and reporting of online platform traffic and engagement
Monitor Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) national standards and recommendations and align Signs of HOPE policies and procedures with CLAS standards
Coordinate CLAS workgroup activities including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling and communication
Facilitate processes within SOH and CLAS workgroup to collect and monitor data related to the CLAS action plan
Assist with preparation for and attending outreach events
Assist with volunteer needs and communications of the department
Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in marketing, business, gender/queer/women’s studies, public health, political science, human services, social work, or related field preferred, a minimum of two years of website and social media job experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to communicate fluently (spoken and written) in English required, ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit; reach with hands/arms and talk/hear. The employee is occasionally required to balance; stoop, kneel, crouch.
