ROLE of the POSITION
Custodial Worker II’s perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials in order to provide safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.
The SRWC custodial staff is responsible for maintaining the 184,000 square foot recreation facility which includes thoroughly cleaning the Health Center (exam rooms, labs, triage, bathrooms, offices, etc.), Einstein Bagels (floors, tables, cooking/food preparation areas, etc.) and the recreation facility (locker rooms, pool decks, bathrooms, cardio and weight equipment, Mac Courts, gymnasiums, the Rebel Wellness Zone, fitness laboratory and offices, etc.). We are currently staffed 24-hours a day, seven days a week on 3 shifts (days, swing,
and graveyard).
Responsibilities include: trash removal; sweeping; mopping; stripping/waxing floors; buffing floors; vacuuming and shampooing of carpets; restroom maintenance; window washing; daily office cleaning;upkeep of storage rooms; repairing of miscellaneous equipment; moving and polishing of furniture;operating machinery (low speed buffer, carpet extractor, walk behind auto scrubber and ride-on auto scrubber, etc.);locking and opening the facility; and various other duties as assigned.Priority applicants will possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work.
Possible Shifts Could Fall Between:
Sunday – Thursday: 9:30pm – 6am
Monday – Friday: 9:30pm – 6am
Tuesday – Saturday: 9:30pm – 6am
Thursday – Monday: 9:30pm – 6am
Monday – Friday: 8am – 4:30pm

Possible shifts are subject to change during the application process. Final shift availability will be made known upon offer.

VACCINATION MANDATE POLICY
Per the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Emergency COVID-19 Employee Vaccination Policy, all NSHE employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious waiver request. QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in the following facility types: Athletics, sports, recreation, community centers, etc.
SALARY
Grade 23 Step 1, salary $31,403.52. “Step” means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
