Position Description:

The Development Associate is an integral member of the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum Development team. The Development Associate supports the daily operations by overseeing all administrative processes in place to support the management of the Museum’s donor relationships. The Development Associate runs reports for revenue prospecting, review of donors, mailing lists, etc. as needed by the CEO and Manager of Membership and Annual Giving. A primary goal of the Development Associate is to keep current, clean and usable data for DISCOVERY Children’s Museum. This will be accomplished by maintaining and keeping the Altru system running efficiently to ensure data management and health.

Job Responsibilities:

Regularly manage updates to the Altru constituent database and other Museum databases to ensure that information such as mailing lists are properly updated and moved through development process and coded appropriately.
Achieve proficiency in the Museum database software systems for development and related functions to include coding/managing queries specific to development events.
Manage process of receiving, processing and entering gifts.
Provide research on potential prospects and add information to constituent database, e.g. meeting notes
Manage gift acknowledgment process and produce donor letters on a timely basis.
Assist Manager of Membership and Annual Giving with monthly management & oversight of Development budget to include the review of the Weekly Revenue Report to ensure all funds and expenses are coded correctly and accounted for.
Assist with special events planning, preparation and execution and processing of online RSVPs.
Compile materials for Development prospect meetings.
Coordinate, attend and draft minutes and other documents for Board Development Committee meetings.
Assist the Development department with scheduling meetings, calendar and contacts maintenance, meeting preparation, meeting notes and follow-up.
Draft, proofread, edit and send correspondence on behalf of the Manager of Membership and Annual Giving including donor letters and gift proposals.
Process check requests for department expenses.
Meet and greet visitors for department meetings.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

BA preferred with minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an area related to office administrative support, development, project management or event coordination.
Prior nonprofit work experience a plus.
Exceptional skills in the areas of organization, attention to detail, time management, ability to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities and problem solve.
Excellent customer service abilities.
Excellent reading, writing and grammar skills. Both written and verbal.
Excellent skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, working with databases and internet research; knowledge of databases with experience with Altru, a plus.
Demonstrated team player with strong collaboration abilities.
Ability to take initiative with projects to work both independently.
Knowledge of telephone and electronic mail protocol.
Flexibility in schedule required.

Compensation:

Full-time, salary range $35,000-$40,000
