Job Description : Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.
Purpose of the Position:
The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis position is responsible for coordinating and preparing budgets/forecasts for Nevada Copper.
Accountability:
The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis will be expected to create maintain and refine the annual budgeting process, operational reports, financial and business-related analysis, modeling and research in areas such as Life of Mine modeling, cash flow, expense performance, working capital, and capital investments for Nevada Copper s, Pumpkin Hollow Mine. The role requires analysis of the financial trends and monitor general business conditions that affect the items above. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Finance.
Responsibilities and Duties:

Oversee and lead development of budget and forecast templates and process.
Assist in the preparation of site budgets and forecasts by working with the site team to ensure submissions are timely and accurate by understanding the business drivers behind them; this is a hands-on role
Improve and maintain weekly cash forecasting
Provide analysis of budgets, forecasts and to site management in order to facilitate review and for inclusion in documents (slides, write ups, spreadsheets) to be provided to senior management
Work to continuously improve the budgeting/forecasting process including involvement in the implementation of a new company ERP solution and potentially a budgeting/forecast system
Manage and help to create internal reporting and analysis for internal distribution, including review of information provided by the site, in a way that will enable various stakeholders to understand results (maintain/monitor operating statistics, produce monthly reports)
Responding to questions and addressing issues that arise from review of the results and reporting, including working with site personnel to gain an understanding of results and resolve issues
Provide analysis to support the preparation of the MD&A and quarterly press release
Working closely with operational, technical, mine management and marketing teams to gather updates to mine plans, operating statistics and marketing assumptions and cost inputs – in order to provide financial evaluations to be used for operational value assessment (including for use in impairment analysis) and to support strategic option scenario evaluation
Strategic model development for large projects to support management decision making – modelling projects and different scenarios versus the base case in order to understand financial implications of different strategy options
Assist in ensuring that proper analysis and documentation are prepared for major capital project requests submitted for management approval. Including:

Financial modelling of the project
Working with the operational and project teams to assist in putting together the business case for internal evaluation, which could include word document submissions or power point presentations
Participation in review meetings to provide the overview of the financial evaluation and associated sensitivities – and to answer related questions.

Aid in compiling life of mine and short-term capital investment requirements for the purposes of submission into strategy, life of mine or budgeting processes, as well as to ultimately support capital approval processes
Participate in the development and evaluation of new or existing business/program opportunities.
Liaise with other finance teams to ensure that financial modelling and evaluation is set up in compliance with Company policies, procedures and instructions
Working with the leadership on projects to continuously improve processes in areas of responsibility including working with the finance team to automate reporting from information systems, identifying and acting on gaps in current processes and controls, and working with internal stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met
Lead the compilation of the monthly reports circulated both internally and externally
Perform other duties as required

Knowledge/Education:
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge and experience in the following areas:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or Bachelor s in Mine or Metallurgical Engineering degree with a Master s in Business Administration
Three (3) years of experience in a Financial Planning & Analysis role, preferably in the mining or resource extraction industry
Experience in financial evaluation and modelling, including financial model creation
Financial economic evaluation courses, preferred
Natural resource analysis experience within a global business environment with exposure to operations functions, preferred
Team builder and leader that can build and lead the operational finance team as the Yerington Underground Operations transform from development project to operating mine and the proposed open pit operations enter its next phase
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure to meet pressing deadlines
Team player that can demonstrate the ability to work with a large project team

Travel when required

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:
The incumbent work schedule is typically a 40 hour/week schedule. During the initial ramp up, additional work time will be required to meet the goals and objectives of the business. Personal Protective Equipment required for the field work portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
