Job Description : Role

The EHS Technician will report to the EHS lead, and they will use human and organizational principles to drive ownership of safety, health and environmental impacts, with a focus on engagement, continuous improvement and event learning. They will also provide basic regulatory compliance problem solving support to Facilities personnel, partnering with EHS management as needed on complex compliance issues to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and listener, eager to learn, and works well with cross-functional teams. They take pride in their organization skills, attention to detail and ability to solve problems. They appreciate a setting where superior work is encouraged, recognized, and rewarded. This position is based out of Sparks, NV.
Responsibilities

Partner with other EHS functions (Industrial Hygiene, Construction Safety, Hazardous Waste, Environmental, Ergonomics, etc.) to address needs unique to Facilities Operations.
Facilitate event learnings from a Learning Teams approach, ensuring that preventative actions address system causes and not just individual behaviors.
Assist with field work EHS-impacts oversight, participating in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before starting work.
Maintain a strong presence on the factory floor to coach Facilities personnel toward safer behaviors and self-sufficient safety problem solving.
Deliver EHS trainings and maintain training records.
Use task management systems (e.g., E-ticketing, JIRA, Aconex, Take Charge) daily to respond to employee requests.
Support incident event learnings using classic EHS methods and electronic documentation tools (MS Teams, Tesla Warp Drive). Analyze incident trends to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact events.
Monitor email traffic during working hours and respond to Facilities personnel EHS concerns (in person and in writing).
Perform Job Safety Assessments and help with development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures.
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, and input data gathered into spreadsheets/databases.
Complete assigned projects within their level of scope as directed.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in a similar manufacturing/industrial environment, or 1+ years performing EHS-specific duties in manufacturing/industrial environment.
Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, integrity, and trustworthiness.
Passion for building customers/teammates into strong, self-sufficient EHS problem solvers.
Able to self-manage tasks as well as work directly supervised and in teams.
Able to work in manufacturing, chemical processing, and construction environments.
Comfortable working in safety-sensitive work environments (e.g., around hazardous chemicals, confined spaces, automated equipment, vehicle traffic, hoists/cranes, and electrical hazards).
High tolerance of change and willingness to help others navigate changing work environments.
Proficient at MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook and other electronic tools/software.
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or higher preferred.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.; stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs daily; climb stairs regularly; climb ladders occasionally; perform repetitive hand/wrist motions and twist/bend upper body occasionally.
Able to discern audible and visible alarms.
