English Teacher:
The Academy for Career Education (ACE High School), a WCSD sponsored construction and engineering charter school, is looking for a full-time English teacher candidate for the 2022-2023 school year. Candidates must hold a valid Nevada Teaching License with endorsements meeting the job description or be able to obtain a license by the first day of school.

Candidates must be able to provide three professional references upon request.
Description – English:
ACE High School is looking for a English teacher who holds proper credentialing to teach the English curriculum at the secondary level. This position would be for a full-time teaching position to begin with the 2022-2023 school year. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain by start date (August 8, 2022) a valid and current Nevada Teaching License with an endorsement in English (9-12). The candidate must be capable of teaching a two-year cycle of the Nevada Academic Content Standards for English Language Arts for 11th-12thgrade students. The successful candidate may be part of the Freshmen Success Program integrating SEL, study skills, online learning environments, and other duties related to the instruction of 9thgraders.
ACE High School is a construction and engineering charter high school located in Reno, Nevada. Essential Duties:
Instruction, Planning, and Preparation
1. Teaches content and skills in English language, literature, composition, and reading to
high school students, using Nevada Academic Content Standards.
2. Develops and implements lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the students’ grade and skill levels.
3. Provides individual, small group, and whole group instruction and can adapt curriculum to the needs of each student by differentiating instruction.
4. Integrates existing Career Portfolio project as a center piece of the curriculum while working to advance the portfolio project to meet the ever-changing industry standards and expectations for students’ career goals.
5. Uses technology and internet resources in supporting and scaffolding of ELA curriculum to reach learners at all levels.
Classroom Environment
6. Creates a learning environment that encourages the development of students’ skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking that are fundamental to effective communication and career readiness.
7. Maintains a classroom that is conducive to a safe and respectful atmosphere.
8. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
Professional Responsibilities
9. Consistently documents student data to include grade reports, attendance, and other record-keeping activities, as necessary.
10. Evaluates each student’s progress in meeting the course standards for English skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and uses that data to guide instruction.
11. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning and participation problems.
12. Communicates with parents and school staff regarding student progress.
13. Create and promote additional career ready assignments and systems for students to experience and use in the future for the purpose of career planning and development.
14. Be a leader in the department to assist all staff with strategic planning, implementation, and problem-solving of the ELA content standards as it relates to student success.
Other Duties
15. Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs for licensure, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
16. Participates in various student and parent activities including Open Houses and other recruiting events.
17. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
